While there are some who hate others like me think gender and religion have no bearing on the game so do not need to be shouted in the forums or elsewhere. Wish you well but keep it game related is my advice.

It's like people use this place to vent their frustrations. People will find anything they can complain about and they'll post the crap out of it. Here's an average of what you'll come across. I also added some solutions. [i]"Can't join a raid because I'm too weak, now I have to ridicule everybody that is more capable than me."[/i] <-- Most of us had this problem, if you'd actually put some work in leveling up like the rest of us, you should be fine. Also, watch some guides on YouTube, it might actually make you more useful. [i]"I suck at PvP so I'll complain about the shotgunner which I ran myself into ten times."[/i] <-- There is no cure for sucking, nor does one exist for stupidity. Best thing is to stay away from PvP in this case (as I do). [i]"I can't have anything for free, let's trashtalk the whole company and its game community."[/i] <-- You can find help for this at your local doctor. [i]"Ah no man, we carried a lama through the raid, it's sooooooo easy"[/i] <-- Says the person which probably got carried big time and feels like a tough boy now. (race/gender/religion/ect.) because it gives me a small peek into the point of view from that person. 1 ReplyWritten communication very easily turns to hate. Some think this is because typed words lack the inflection and body language that delivers so much subtlety in speech. It is also said that verbal communication goes the same way if we have no connection to the other person we are communicating with - we cut our friends and family slack that some stranger on the internet will never receive. There is also a natural human tendency to interpret things from a personal context - I say, for example, that Gunslingers are OP in crucible. You, if you play a Gunslinger, interpret that as "I think you did not earn your k/d". That is not the message I wanted to deliver, but it is what you hear. There are some good texts out there on why negotiations fail. Look for "Difficult Conversations" by Douglas Stone for a very practical guide that is based upon scientific research, mostly from Harvard. Posting to the forums does not always return hate. There are ways of posting that encourage positive responses, and ways that will always gather a snowball of trolls and anger. It is a very useful skill to learn; if you can post to these forums and have people like your post, and avoid a visit from Butthurt (also known as The Salt Gatherer) then you can probably post anywhere. Actually, that's not true. These forums are, believe it or not, better than many I visit. Sex, Gender and Religion are definite touch points. In part this is because they connect to people interpreting your comments as criticism. If, for example, I were to decide your post was telling me I lack the ability to play nicely with others (I'm a frequent poster on the forums) and I've also had bad experiences with religious people (telling me I can't sacrifice my goat on their lawn) then I'll connect the two - you are obsessed with my bad communication skills because of your religion. And I'll dismiss your thoughts on that basis. tl;dr - all communication between people goes wrong. Learn to deal with it, and how to spot what summons trolls and what gets support.

The only part of that i feel would get hate is bringing up religion. It just an uncomfortable thing to bring up even for religious people.

Most religious people are fine but the hateful ones who try and shove it down your throat should be banned from breeding.

They have monitors ??? I really didn't know that. Seems most people can write anything they want on here and get away with it. I really have no concerns about who I play Destiny with. 99% of them are anonymous and could be of either sex and any race, religion or sexuality. I'm here to play a game and have fun and not debate the pressing (and usually dull) matters of the day. Who you are as a person is far more important than what you are. Happy Gaming!

Not saying you are but if you do run into this report it. Otherwise it's hard to take a forum post about sexism and the like with any real way.

1 ReplyBecause your gender is irrelevant to 99% of conversations, but in the case of the attention seeking females, it shows up in a whopping 20% of their post including their profile. They usually announce it in their profile as well. It's an obvious sad attention grab, that's why they're being called out for it.
