Unique Strike Gear more rare than Exotics?
So its been a week of grinding Shadow Thief strike for the Mark of Taniks. And not the slightest drop of this item. Is unique strike gear supposed to be extremely rare? I wouldn't understand the logic if Bungie decided to make unique legendary gear more rare than exotics. Instead of the three of coins increasing the rate at which only exotics drop, why not increase the rate at which all good drops will drop? By good drops I mean legendary engrams, unique strike gear especially, and exotics. The rate at which each type of drop would be different of course. This would restore the rarity of each type of gear. Sorry if this goes against the easy grind for exotics, but IMO I would rather get a hold of things that make my Guardian look like the legend he is supposed to be. Theoysion Vibrrasae for my warlock, the psion cloak or mark of taniks for my hunter, the darkblade helm for my titan or the maulers. I currently only have the darkblade helm. That helm and the psion seems to be the only frequent drops from the strikes. Please chime in on anything I have said, whether it is trolling or actual advice, I will reply as if it were constructive and literal.

4 RepliesI have Tankis cloak and solar flayer mantel. I've also had a few of the weapons drop, unfortunately bad rolls on my Treads Upon Stars and the sniper, forget it's name. I actually get a lot of the unique legendaries... Usually for a different class than I'm on at the time. Now what I'd personally like is to stop getting dupe exotics ad nauseam. Went through all my coins and was left with dupe Monte Carlos and insurmountable skullforts.

I've only had 2 pieces drop (and 1 treads upon stars), they were for the titan... while I was using my hunter.

Got the Taniks cloak, does not bow, and a million marks of the undying. All the other pieces have refused to drop, it's simple rng man. I'm glad to have unique legendaries though, was a very nice touch.

1 ReplyAfter the 70 strikes I've done, I've gotten: Cloak of taniks Solar flayer mantle 2x gloves from echo chamber 2x fusion rifle from allakhu 8 exotic engrams, 2 chestplate, 2 primary, 1 special, 1 gauntlet, 2 helmet Numerous legendary engrams So yea, I'd say *with three of coins* exotics (atleast for me) are more common. However you have to realize the only reason they seem more common is because of you using a consumable enhancer. The base drop rate of an exotic would obviously be lower than that of the legendaries without your three of coins.

3 RepliesIts a joke tbh. I advise not to waste your time grinding. Because you wont get shit that way. Just play strikes for a couple of hours with friends and if they drop they drop. And if one of your friends get taniks cloak before you delete them.

2 Replies35+ times on Shadow Thief and nothing. Taniks even dropped some legendary engrams that were cloaks and they weren't the Taniks cloak.

4 RepliesI just want the helm of krolok! Nobody knows for sure where to get it though. If I knew for a fact it dropped at phogoth I would grind it all day and not mind! Its the not knowing that kills me and makes me not want to do it!

Now it's on my huntet looking badass rocking the celestial nighthawk helm. Also got the: Baron's ambition (my main machine gun), devouring maw and that Darkblade's fushion rufle... without knowing how rare they are.

4 RepliesOut of all the times I have faced taniks, the cloak has only dropped for me twice. I literally spent all day yesterday farming that strike only, for the auto rifle and it didn't even drop. And I heard the auto rifle was crap unless you get good perks. I'm someone who doesn't judge a gun based off just perks but if I finally get it to drop I better get some decent perks on it, cause it's drop rate is extremely low for no reason. The same for the omnigul pulse rifle. Farmed that one a bit and no such luck. Did get the bond though. It seems like the cloak, bonds, and marks are somewhat obtainable if you run the strike enough. As for the strike specific weapons?... Good luck. Oh but you can go straight to the strike from the planet to get the cloak. It doesn't matter if you are on a Playlist. Just in case you had your doubts or didn't know.
