Hunter here and just to clarify, do you know what the mechanics of a tank is in any rpg styled game? They absorb the most damage and out of all the classes in destiny it has the most armor. Now the headshot thing I understand due to armor and defense levels but any heavy attacks (swords or rockets ) should one shot them like any other class

But it doesn't say they're a tank class. That's the thing. Everyone always cries "oh, they're tanks, they're tanks!" When nothing in the game supports that. Sure, they can get the highest armor, but the health difference between a max armor warlock and a max armor Titan is like 1 or 2 hit points. Not exactly anything tanky about it. And if we're pulling out RPG logic then here. How about the DPS class? Well Titans can do DPS pretty well, so now we have a tanky DPS class. Support? Titan's got that too. Tanky support. If you want to talk RPG logic then it isn't balanced either way.
