I've hardly seen the point to Glimmer and always wonder why my Guardian would stoop to scrape it off the ground as it falls about. I, too, am almost always maxed out.

Everything is supposed to be digital from my understanding... So everything is converted into data by your ghost and stored there. When you use it the data is transferred from data into its material form again. So for example when you switch a weapon then immediately exit the menu the weapon is materializing in your hand.

I remember reading somewhere in-game or on the Destiny Web site that it's this stuff that used to be used in the Golden Age that Guardians now use as currency, I guess along with the strange coins that hum or vibrate or something when you touch them and Xur finds so valuable. I guess we have really big pockets or some spatial/temporal flux bags to put all this stuff, including weapons, gear, spinmetal. Verisimilitude often gets lost in the shuffle.
