Chief pretty much single handedly exterminated the flood, toppled the covenant hierarchy, and rekt the didact and his army of prometheans. Yes he had help but let's be honest, anyone with chief is mainly a spectator (this is reinforced in the books). Chief would be able to kill a full fireteam of guardians before they even have time to react (unless there's something that supports guardians having enhanced reflexes and reaction times on par with spartan 2's this holds true). Supers would easily be dodged or blocked by armor lock or bubble shields. Even his armor could tank a nova bomb (not a direct hit but splash damage it'd be able to). And chief would either crush or shoot the ghosts in between destroying the guardians to prevent them from coming back.

The Chief would have died if he didn't have help from other people just like guardians. And cortana holds master Chiefs hand every time unlike a ghost.
