The emblem doesn't use the exotic slot, and neither do the exotic class items obtained from faction quests. As for the collectors edition class items, I am unsure. The sparrow and ship are not currently in the game as far as I know

the CE exotic class item does take up the exotic slot, the only marks that don't are the Faction ones. The sparrows and ships are not in the game, that's correct.
