You would then have to simplify the boss fights because you can't guarantee coordination between 6 randoms that aren't forced to talk to.

No it would just be hard for them. Don't dilute the game just add in a matchmaking option not a forced version like everything else (which they should remove anyway and add a matchmaking and non matchmaking option)

Have you tried to the legendary rune boss fight with six randoms? That is what a raid with matchmaking would be like.

I haven't but you don't have to do it with randoms if they were smart about it

I know you don't but the legendary rune fight is basically the crota fight. It is impossible to coordinate the rockets to get him down.
