This game made me cringe.
Graphic, real world photos with serious context details.
Colorful, playful, comedic graphics and gameplay.
In my book it's downright disgraceful to show photos of wounded soldiers and the effects of mustard gas only to turn around have the player hitting axis soliders over the head with a wooden spoon.

The war information was good. Maybe even great. But when I saw thier digital facsimile being portrayed in looney toon style slapstick gameplay I cringed, looked at my brother who was shaking his head and said "Yah, no, that's kinda sorta really fkd up."
yes that's how I actually talk
and then deleted the free game from my system. It did not sit right with me.

Thanks dude, thanks for feeding back what you felt about it. My impressions differ but it It does have a few tongue in cheek moments. Generally it's a very macabre game and it's colour pallet is very grey and brown. I don't feel it was disrespectful to those soldiers that lost their lives and the historical elements were what appealed most to me.

Edited by FrostD: 10/2/2015 7:14:29 PMI get it. I normally love it when the real history of a war is included in games. Showing the seriousness of the conflict. But to me, this felt like a string of looney toon skits with real world war photos spliced into the film.

I wasn't saying you didn't friend, I did ask for your opinion and I respect it.

I never got that impression, but then I never subscribed to the idea that not pursuing photo realism makes a game immature/childish or unable to represent emotions.

Edited by FrostD: 10/2/2015 7:05:19 PMBy comedic graphics I mean swinging the spoon, the thunk splash effect, hats spinning in air, anger clouds for emotion. All very slapstick in nature. Edit: Felt like I was watching a bugs bunny cartoon with real photos of war spliced in

I guess I see your point. But juxtaposing the slapstick and comedic/lively with the bleak and realistic (it could be argued) serves only to highlight the inhuman nature of the conflict and represent the human spirit persevering. Not saying that was the thought out intent necessarily, but when judging the tone i'm sure that's what the designers felt. In an otherwise thoughtful game I'm sure it wasn't the intended effect to be disrespectful.

Edited by FrostD: 10/2/2015 7:33:48 PMMaybe if I had beaten the game, seen the whole body of work, it would have sat better. No worries m8. You obviously saw something more in it than I did. Cheers
