Mine dropped today from a 36 level playlist. Had the vanguard buff active and must say I love them... Look very cool . and paired with my saint of helm 14 look awesome. First time iv took my ruin wings off in like two weeks. Now I just need that mutha fecking darkblade helmet.... Arghhhh out of all the strikes in the playlist that one seems to be the one that doesn't land the most. I swear to God if I need to kill those -blam!-ing flayers one more time

Is the buff from the class item with extra Vanguard rep or is it random?

You'll get the buff in your second strike from the playlist. Its the reward for doing multiple strikes back to back

The buff is from staying in the strike playlist without going to orbit.

That's what I thought. When you go to orbit after the strike is over, does that count as "going to orbit?"

No, that's still counted as being in the playlist. 'Going to orbit' is leaving the strike lobby by canceling out of matchmaking or holding Y (xbox) to leave the lobby/strike
