I'm really not liking the direction 343 is taking the franchise and the retcon. Regardless if he's really dead or not. I'm worried that they are slowly weaving out Master Chief and most of the "Halo" we know and loved with something of their own creation (naturally). They've already done so with Prometheans as the main enemy in 4 and magically giving Chief and all Spartans very different looking armor although he's been in Cryo-sleep (although made canon as to how still doesn't change that it's a rather big change that could've been written in as gradual). They seem to also try "too hard" to make the Spartans and Chief look more 'ultra futuristic' over just futuristic and diminish the very artistic reason their called "Spartans". Their armors have now lost that old awesome individual custom detailed appeal that was made in Reach. Suddenly introducing countless new Spartans will only degrade the status and Wow factor of them. Whatever happened to "Spartans never die?", clearly that won't be retained in the 343 Halo since it's not something they adapted or created nor will it hold as much merit with all these constant new Spartans. Quantity > Quality now eh'. Most importantly, I'm genuinely worried that Spartan Locke will become the new Master Chief and the franchise will lose it's old style and appeal and be replaced with high explosions, over the top choreography, and Call of Duty syndrome which is clearly shown in the opening cinematic already. Sincerely, a very passionate Halo fan since the beginning. I miss your Halo's, Bungie. It won't be the same. :(
Their armors have now lost that old awesome individual custom detailed appeal that was made in Reach.
Wut? Instead of one teamwith customized armor, there are now 2 teams of 4 and everyone has unique armor. With Chief still being recognizable as Chief.
Suddenly introducing countless new Spartans will only degrade the status and Wow factor of them. If I was the head honcho in Halo and saw just how big of a difference Spartan IIs and IIIs made in the Human-Covenant War I'd want a big ass army of em too. Not to mention Kelly, Linda, and Fred existed in the very first Halo novel. Not exactly new.
Most importantly, I'm genuinely worried that Spartan Locke will become the new Master Chief and the franchise will lose it's old style and appeal and be replaced with high explosions, over the top choreography, and Call of Duty syndrome which is clearly shown in the opening cinematic already. And none of it include any of that "cinematic" bullshit cod pulls to look like a movie which just frustrated me when I played and it interrupted the flow of gameplay. As for Locke, who can tell? But Chief is old in the lore. He's been fighting all his life. He needs to either retire or get killed off in a spectacular way.

MC is biologically in his 30s because of cryo. 343 said that they weren't going to get rid of MC anytime soon.
-
Biological age is not the same as mental age. Fighting, killing your whole life. That wears on the psyche.
-
Yes it does but we are talking strictly chronological age aren't we? If not then he is still combat ready as a Spartan II mentally because he was raised from the age of 6 to fight and kill so it is normal for him. If something has been your life since childhood and you know nothing else it will not weigh on you.
-
I don't know about that. Killing a person is a lot different than most things most people become accustomed to as a child. Not to mention the loss of Cortana hit Chief really hard.
-
Cortana was really the only one able to get close to him ao it's understandable. Think though that he killed 2 out of 3 ODSTs when he was 10 and had killed before then so he wasn't phased when he did that. Also have to think that it isn't who he is killing that weighs on him, but who he loses beside him if anything.
-
Blue Team, no, everyone in the Spartan II program are very close to him. At least those still alive. And Chief did feel remorse for the ODSTs he killed.
-
If I remember corrrectly he felt bad at first until he realized it was him or them. I haven't read the books in over a year so refresh my memory if I am wrong.
-
I think it was something along those lines. Been forever since I read Fall of Reach.
-
I'm well aware of the customization options in Halo 5. I was speaking on a artistic standpoint over a practical one. The little details such as the Carter's shoulder or Emile's skull for instance and not just interchangeable armor with color options. Individuality. Fair enough with the narrative and spartans. What I said was mostly a vent and should be taken as a grain of salt.
-
Ahh I see. You wanted more individual pieces instead of the mass produced, non-modified armor pieces of 343's games.

Hold on there Trump, I didn't think you'd build that wall so quick.
Hold on there Trump, I didn't think you'd build that wall so quick.
Funny, it would appear we both have a different outlook. Thanks for being a stand up guy and not judging, using my rant as an attempt to make a joke or be a troll. Just want it to be known, I'm extremely far from being a Trump supporter. Nor do I get how what I said can even be compared to it.

I just didn't feel like reading a wall of text with no paragraphs.
