ONI propaganda is real.
Chief is not dead, anyone that watched the Chief and the Locke trailers prior to hunt the truth season one knows this.
This is a dangerous marketing from 343 as it may upset those that don't know much about the lore and story.

Think it's meant to grab people's attention. If they care enough they'll see that he isn't dead. If they don't care, then they won't get angry. Usually they'll say like "343 breaking canoes again" and move on with their lives.
