Buying 3 of Coins, is it worth it?

Seeing that this post wasn't going away and the Troll'ers were out I just decided to change the Title.
Yes I made the Mistake of not taking into account that you get 5 (3 of Coins) consumables for the price of 7 Strange Coins. So my numbers were off & it was more like 1/10 Tries which meant it was a 14:1 investment.
14 coins to 1 exotic drop. So the drop rate is about the same price as if you bought it from xûr only higher @ 290. So now the question is,.... Is it worth it?
You still have the randomness of not knowing what you'll get & wether it's the item you want.
So I'm just asking now how many consumables did it take & was it a Yr1 Gear drop or did you get a new exotic?
Please,.... Feel Free to leave your finds. If it's just to troll just move along.

I've been using them like its my job and every exotic I've gotten were from year 1.

I've used over 10 on ultras and nothing. Should it only be bosses at the end of the strikes. Does it matter if it's vanguard or not? I burned the 10 on the level 41 strike ultras.

It's still rng. Out 3 coins and 3 strikes one dropped for me

That sample size is way too small. Reddit has people doing a lot of experimenting and they're showing a 25% drop rate when you space them out properly.

I think it's worth it in my opinion. Xur sells the lowest exotic pieces compared to finding exotic engrams. Which means... Xur currently sucks. The three of coins and the enjoyment of finding an exotic out there is definitely worth it. Though the odds now is lower than before. I've actually used all 15 of my coins and received one exotic. That in itself is good enough for me. It tells me that I was lucky enough to get one lol. Just like how other games work, this is pretty much a balanced way to go for exotic farming!

Lol I got 310 alpha lupi and 310 robes for the warlock.. and a hawkmoon another suros along with the strike gauntlets for my titan. I LOVE 3 OF COINS! Better than the new nf that rips you off.

I did about ten strikes with it active and got 3 exotics. Not nerfed. Nerf only applies to those who farmed variks.

Before I got 3 exotics out of 25 coins. 3:25 If it's 3:30 or 1:10, I don't think that's far off
