If you level up, you can choose multiple versions of your gun with different skills. You can also get a quest for a class specific secondary at rank 2 and a primary Exotic at rank 3. And I think rank 5 gives You the bounty for The First Curse. So yeah, it's worth your time. Oh, and you get a free legendary every time.
