Hey metallicaNLC,
While I don't have a solution to your problem(sorry), it could be helpful if you or one of the others who replied with the same issue, post a video showing the crash in action. Leave in the events leading up to the crash and what happens as you are forced to quit out of Destiny. I would suggest adding the tag #Bugs so that it has a better chance of being seen.

i thought there was no way to capture it but next time it happens i'll try to do the xbox record thing. I have a video of the bigger explosion happening a couple of times but not where it freezes my game

I don't think you'll be able to use the Xbox record feature to capture the full crash. Though something is better than nothing. I was trying to appeal to anyone using a capture device like an Elgato HD Game Capture. It's not necessary to upload a video, but it can be useful when making a log of the bug from the community. :] Hope it gets sorted out for you.
