This isn't a review its bashing! Reviews cover graphics, gameplay, story, audio, replay ability.. And quite a bit more, you clearly did not touch on those things.
And infuse is actually a nice feature, it allows people to differentiate themselves from others, unlike in the past where everybody looked the same and had the same stats

My Review of Decay33's post...
-
Prime example of a Fanboy right here. =P
-
It doesn't matter if I am a fanboy or not. A review is a review, and yours is clearly not one.
-
A review is an OP ED based off of a person's experience when trying something. Just because you don't agree with Malphisto's opinion of what he played, does not invalidate it as a review.
-
It is a biased opinion at best. He talks about his anger long before he did this review.
-
And then he got a brand new copy for a system that he had not previously played Destiny on. He says it right there. He went into it with a completely fresh... everything in order togive it a fair shake to see the extent of the changes that were supposedly made. He tells the truth that, aside from Nolanbot, there's nothing changed with the base stories aside from what Bungie removed. This review is about as unbiased as you can get, and follows the scientific method pretty closely. You're trying to paint it as biased because you can't seem to cope with the fact that what he found paints a pretty damning picture of something that you personally enjoy. That's a character flaw on your part, but not a "damning revelation" that invalidates his review.
-
Edited by Decay33: 9/22/2015 3:11:40 PMYou are completely wrong. Read his history of posts here. There is no reason to expect that they will change the year 1 story considering everybody has already played that story. For him to even play it from the beginning makes no sense. He got a copy, he created new characters and started from scratch. He didn't provide any information about this other account so we can validate his claim. He knows nothing about the experience and you can tell. What a real reviewer would have done is go buy a copy, install it and use their existing account. That way they can experience the difference with the same character they have been building up for a year. This review is sh!t... If he had credibility then I may disagree with him still, but I would also call it a review and not sh!t
-
I'm well aware of Malphisto's history of posts. I've also been reading reviews of games since before the days of "Nintendo Power" magazine (betraying my age here...). Reviewers still review games even when they haven't had the greatest opinion of previous games. That in no way invalidates a new review. Your view on creating a new character vs using an existing character is nonsensical... how is he going to see any of the chages with a character who has already gone through it before? He specifically says he tried this PS4 version of Destiny: The Taken King in the same manner as a person who had never played the game before, and just bought the game after Y2 (TTK) had launched. What he discovered is tempered by what he knew of the story from before TTK made any changes to the game. If anything, this allows him to make an even better comparison of the difference from Y1 to Y2. The fact that you seem to think that any of this invalidates his review and robs him of his credibility is not only laughable, but also shows that you really don't understand what a "Reviewer" is trying to accomplish, and that you don't really understand the most basic principles of the Journalism field.
-
So where is this "account" he talks about, lets check it out, see what's he has played through.
-
Edited by Vampire Nox: 9/22/2015 3:31:07 PM*sigh* He doesn't need to link his PS4 account to satisfy the Burden of Proof. Do you doubt the so-called "professional" reviewers in this same manner? Because i don't know a single one that freely allows their readers to crawl unimpeded over their LIVE/PS4/Steam accounts.
-
PSN: Malphisto001 I don't personally care about keeping it a secret or not, I just don't want to have it linked to this profile. Come to think of it, not sure if it will even be able to view since I declined registering it with Bungie.net when it prompted me with the option the first time I started up the game.
-
I am just stating a point, there is no proof that he did anything. It's that simple. He said he beat his record of 8 hours but failed to attribute that to the ability to skip cut scenes. He don't talk about loot drops, court of oryx, he refuses the raid (so no reliable review from him on this part from his followers), he never mentions 1 piece of gear by name or stats that he looted as part of the expansion. And I think he is lying when he says he just played straight through it. You need some sort of leveling in between, bounties or whatever. Because the level requirements start going up faster that you. So he would had to have had gear prior to just blaze through it. On a second character, sure you can do it. But a brand new account and no higher level character to change gear from. Like I said, this review is sh!t. It's not even a review.
-
For the record, didn't skip any cutscenes.
-
You nicely avoided, but still didn't answer my question. If professional reviewers won't let you crawl all over the LIVE/PSN/Steam accounts that they used to review games, and that doesn't invalidate their reviews in their entirety or in part, then why does that invalidate Malphisto's review? In short, it doesn't. This all goes back to you claiming his review is invalidated or biased simply because his review is negative of a game/DLC that you personally enjoy. You cannot seem to cope well with someone having a negative view of something that you enjoy, so your recourse has been to slander and degrade him and his work. Prove me wrong.
-
I want you to show me, anywhere or any person that can hop from one story mission to the next and beat it up to level 40 without a grind for experience.
-
There were people who were level 40 before leaving the Tower on the day TTK launched. Didn't grind a bit except for the grind to complete those 5000 exp bounties. Don't give me that bullshit "you need to prove *blah random thing I just thought up*". And further; where did this argument even come from? Left field? When the -blam!- did we get on to grinding? But if you're curious in my opinion, TTK is nothing but a grind-factory. It took the core grinding concept that Destiny is built around, and makes it 10x more grindy.
-
Its a shame Bungie has post size so heavily restricted. My review was waaay bigger and actually got super detailed on just how bad this new grind really is. Its mainly perpetrated by the Legendary Marks which you will need for EVERYTHING. Vendors, the Legendary Engrams sold by the Cryptarch... CLASS ITEMS sold by the Speaker now also require Legendary Marks instead of them just costing Motes of Light. Infusion itself costs Legendary Marks as well and also requires you to sacrifice another item of similar Rarity and of the same type. So you can't use a Legendary Shotgun to Infuse a Legendary Auto Rifle. Or a Legendary Helmet to infuse Legendary Gauntlets. Both items need to be from the same slot. So you'll either need to hope you get lucky with RNG or actually spend MORE Legendary Marks JUST to purchase the new Year 2 Legendary/Exotic gear for the sole purpose of totally sacrificing them for Infusion. And it gets better. I actually got a Legendary Sidearm from having done a quest while I was playing, and I managed to come by a Legendary Shotgun that I got from a Faction Rank Up Pack. So I tried using the Sidearm to Infuse it to make the Shotgun stronger. IT ONLY INCREASED THE SHOTGUN'S DAMAGE BY 10 POINTS... But wait, it gets even better! That Shotgun I got from the pack? It was from New Monarchy. But something seemed off about it. So I went into the faction vendor and compared it to the Shotgun on sale. THE LEGENDARY WEAPONS YOU GET FROM THE PACKS AREN'T AS STRONG AS THE ONES THAT YOU BUY EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME WEAPON WITH THE EXACT SAME NAME. The Legendary Weapons sold by the vendors that cost marks are all 280 Damage. Even after using Infusion, my Shotgun is still nowhere near that. It was a total waste of a Legendary. (The Sidearm) Yes, they DID remove the cap on how many Marks you can earn each week, but they replaced it with an even more obnoxious, time consuming grind the likes of which puts Year 1 Destiny's grind fest to shame. There are people with 200 Marks, but they have been pouring a LOT of time and work into getting them. I keep hearing people have actually taken VACATION time off from work just to play TTK and the majority of their time has been dumped into this nonsense because of how hard they are trying to get ready for the Raid. And then, once they start doing the Raid, they'll be spending hours and hours redoing it over and over again and dealing with one frustration after the next JUST to grind it for that new shiny "Raid Gear" that will just eventually end up just as worthless as Vault of Glass weapons and armor. Its horrendous, my mind is blown by how many are actually putting themselves through such torture and then claiming it to be "fun" like they're a bunch of masochists who get pleasure out of causing themselves pain. It really is an unhealthy addiction problem.

The main reason I am saying this is to let you know that his review is flawed and full of holes. You cannot start a new acct and finish the entire story mode in 7 hours. You have to grind for better gear and levels. That's my point is to easily invalidate this as a reviews. It's just a biased opinion like I said before. Or he can show us his character on psn so we can see that he played it a total of seven hours and his last mission was the final mission of ttk. Then that will shut me up. But I am telling you now, and you know it... This cannot be done.
-
7 hours was for the Year 1 Content. TTK was 4 hours. During which, plenty of Green and Blue Engrams were dropping that kept giving me better gear. Although it wasn't really necessary. I simply just used a high impact Scout Rifle, Shotgun and Rocket Launcher loadout which carried me all the way through. Aside from a few situations, everything can easily be killed at a safe distance. Oryx was easily dispatched with rockets and the Scout Rifle. Its not all that hard, no clue why you or anyone else would be struggling so much with it.
-
Then send the character info and let us review the statistics
-
https://www.bungie.net/en/Profile/254/11805850 I've been on and off since having written the review, but there ya go. Not sure exactly what you were hoping to gleam from it outside of just checking to see if I really had it or not.
-
Ok driving to work, will check it once I get there. Thanks for the link though.
-
It says that account has not played destiny.
-
The hell? Ugh... -blam!-ing Bungie... Give me a few to figure out their stupid bullshit. -_-
-
I am well aware of people stacking bounties, I was level 39 before I really started ttk He is claiming he did it from scratch, no bounties grinding or anything in 7 hours, No other characters to farm good gear for him. This is entirely a new acct, a new psn acct at that, maybe he got it free too. It just reeks
