The US has been involved in it but the US didn't start it. Mr Assad did when he used the Shabiha to murder his own people in the streets. He also invited ruin when he courted jihadists throughout the 2000s.
That said, I agree countries should do more to take in refugees. Let's start with KSA, because they've taken in literally no one.

We should put pressure on Saudi to take in refugees. They certainly have the money to support them and they won't have to cross an ocean to get there.
