I believe those are similar to having the Elder Cipher that weapon reward was unselected before 2.0 happened. These ciphers failed to yield a weapon as well. I think it is the way they intended it. Sorry man.

Maybe so, but I could've sworn that they said they were working on a fix for the Elder Cipher issue (regardless of what step you were on, it [supposedly] resulted in getting a token to be turned into Variks for an exotic weapon), but nothing about the missives has been mentioned.

You might be right- my clanmate had the cipher happen to him. I haven't followed it since then. It's just the only comparison I can come up with for the missives. The reward was already defined with them though- so it might be different. Try to get a BNGhelp on it- I like my gear too!
