Let me explain:
The hive were life forms that lives on a planet with another 511 species. It was a big planet with lots of moons, and they were all at war. The hive were about to go extinct but they found worms in an exhibition under the planet. These worms are ahamkara. The warlord aurush (now called oryx) are the worm and it made him immortal, but he had to feed the worm by killing foes, his siblings did the same but they had to do different things: oryx killed things, someone else had to be cunning, someone else had to be ruthless, someone else had to be strong and such and such. The worms, if not fed enough would consume the person. They killed everyone on there world and went to a different system to start killing there. They made everyone eat baby worms to also unlock great power, not as much (cause they were baby worms) they went to a system where they faced an alien race protected by the traveller and oryx killed his brothers and sisters to make him and his worm powerful. They then defeated the traveller so he fled and the hive hunted the traveller cause the only way he could be free was to exterminate the light. He went to the fallen and started there golden age but the hive came to early so he left. He came to earth to boost our golden age and build Rasputin to help defeat the darkness but at the last second the traveller left earth like he did to the fallen. Rasputin attacked traveller to stop him from leaving to help humans survive. Vex are essentially the traveller and were made to build a perfect universe but the traveler didn't know that meant killing him aswell. We are getting in the way of the vex building a perfect universe.

Not entirely. The Ahamkara are some sort of offspring of the Worms, but they are not the same worms as Xol, Eir, Yol and Akka.
