Actually, the stormcaller is similar to arcblade in orb generation. Both of them take about 4 lesser enemy kills to generate 1 orb. Its stupid. And orbs dont give as much energy like they used too.

Not from what I've seen, though it might have been my team mate just descending on a group of armored enemies. It's also true that orbs don't seem to give as much energy, but I believe it's tied to your own Intellect stat and just has a fixed effect on the cooldown.
