(Don't get me started, i'm not condoning the theft) now, this is partially their fault for using 3 numbers; 3, 4, 7, and only 13 numbers; H, L, M, N, V, K, P, A, T, F, X, C and R, these of course were arranged randomly in 8 digits with only 2 repeating numbers. You would think Bungie would have learned from Xbox not to use short codes with limited numbers. More so, the codes are always active, they don't activate at register.

Bungie didn't make the codes, Red Bull did.
-
Do it's their fault because others are willing to steal? Wow
-
Ok see now you got me started. When a company is stolen from both parties are to blame, while yes, morally, the people who steal are at blame, they wouldn't have been able to if someone has secured what was stolen. You only hear criticism on a job when someone fails to do it and that's bad, if a real hacker, instead of those se7ensins skript kiddies, had found this, RedBull or Bungie would have fixed it. So don't ever. Ever. Say that it's solely the criminals fault, both parties are to blame and you know it.
-
It is the criminals fault period. The code should be harder but wouldn't need to be if others weren't willing to take advantage and steal what doesn't belong to them.

Edited by Affest: 9/15/2015 5:30:43 AMHumans will always find shortcuts. Everyone knows that. Its in our nature. So the fact that they used such a basic, easily-guessable algorithm to promote their game is blatant negligence on their part. There were many situations exactly like this one in the past that they should have learned from and made sure that those codes were harder to generate. But they didn't. And they took a hit because of that. Stop defending them. They made a huge, stupendously oblivious mistake and you know what? They know it. You know how I know that? Because it's common sense. You should get some.
-
I assure you I have enough common sense. The path of least resistance most often doesn't include stealing. That is a horrible argument to justify theft.
-
He's not justifying it, he's explaining why it happened, and that ultimately, Red Bull will have to eat the cost of giving away free codes to those who stole them by not making them more secure.
-
Did we ever get confirmation that Bungie came up with the algorithm? Could have been red bull or perhaps a third party contractor Or Bungie themselves Whoever did it was an idiot
-
Red Bull generated the codes; however, I have not seen any more information on whether it was Red Bull directly, or they sub-contracted the promotion out. Bungie was simply providing the game to use the promotion on.
