Stephenson shakes off the attempt on his life with a tall whiskey before he hits the sack, pausing only to check on Shiroe, who'd been exhausted after their search for the serial killer yesterday.

*She looks up from her datapad* "Eh? Oh. Yesterday."

A guy I have a history with tried to shoot me at the museum. I shot back, and now they're in custody. You doing ok?[/i]

"I'm doing fine. I've been checking up on some things since you put me under house arrest." *She grins*

[i]Well, you were unconscious, so I locked up before I left. It's always good to be safe.[/i]

"Thanks for carrying me back. I over-extended myself taking out those guys.." *She laughs ruefully and looks back down to her data-pad* "I am currently checking in on my hideouts. They all report nominal functionality, but some are non-responsive. I'm a bit worried."

[i]Well, is there anyone there, or are they automated?[/i]

"Most are automated. Those are the ones that responded. It's the ones that aren't that worry me. The systems are all responding, but no video shows up."

[i]Well, I'm sure it's fine. Now, if you'll pardon me for a minute-[/i] He pulls out a strange sort of gun-like device with a radar dish on the front. [i]Hold still. I want to see if this works.[/i] He powers up the device and points it at Shiroe's spine, and the nanomachines begin to respond.

*Immediately Shiroe's hand blurs, a pillow flying across the room to knock the device out of his hands* "No!!!! Don't do that!! NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!!" *She leaps up, dashing to the opened window and diving through into the air. You hear a slight "Oof", then she leaps past the window and up towards the rooftop*

Stephenson groggily attempts to follow her. [i]You didn't have to hit me, you know! That thing's supposed to get rid of them![/i]

*You only hear a slight ruffle of clothing as she scampers up and onto the rooftop, her cloak flapping in the breeze*

Stephenson races after her. [i]Hey! Come back! I just want to talk! [/i]

"As if." *Shiroe sits perched on the far side of the rooftop* "You.... Almost killed me with that thing!!!! These things keep me alive!!! You kill them, they self-destruct!! It's part of their base coding."

He looks shocked. [i]I'm sorry. I didn't know. It's just... after yesterday... the way you looked...[/i] He trails off. [i]I care about you a lot. I just wanted to help.[/i] He pulls out his revolver and violently blasts apart the device.

*Right after you blast apart the device Shiroe suddenly jumps and hugs you* "I know. Thank you.."

*She pulls tight her voice slightly muffled* "Ya know..... It's been a while since I've felt safe with somebody. Like how I am with you."

"Eh? Twice? Did I really do that much?" *She releases you from the hug and shrugs* "I guess I just like saving your ass a lot."

He chuckles. [i]The feeling is mutual. Dinner?[/i]

"Of course!!"

[i]Right. I know a good diner down the street. This way.[/i] He heads down the fire escape, and the pair soon arrives a small, local pub, the Left Boot.

"The Left Boot huh? I've seen weirder names."
