Here's the thing I don't get about why everyone is so mad - Ishmael is voiced by Keifer. GZ Big Boss is voiced by Keifer. How did no one figure that out during the prologue?? Am I the only one who heard Ishmael speak and think, oh shit, THAT'S really Big Boss?
I mean, I figured out Volgin was the Man On Fire by looking at his damn clothes during the prologue. Who else wears a suit like that? With bullets over his chest?

I figured it was all in his head, that's why he had the same voice. However -blam!-ing Mega64 ruined it for me so I knew I wasn't snake the whole time...seriously -blam!- those guys.

I don't read/watch any gaming stuff until I've played through quite a bit of a game. It never occurred to me that it could have been a hallucination. I mean, think about it. Someone threw the bottle at Quiet and set her on fire, someone gave Venom a shot and drove him away. How can that be in his head? I simply don't get why anyone would think the prologue mission was, like, a giant fever dream or something. And the Truth mission bears it out - it's almost entirely the same until the crash, where everything is explained. I know Kojima loves to troll gamers but...

Because what we see and what is happening are two different things. Remember Venom has a giant chunk of metal stuck in his head. Plus if you finish the Paz side missions you will understand as well.

I admit the Paz thing make ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE to me. I don't get that.

Paz is a giant hiluicination brought about by finding that first old photo. Plus his own hidden guilt as medic for not finding the second bomb. That's why his mind alters the memory to remove the second bomb. Just as Paz struggles to remember who she really is, so is Venom. There is a good analogy between the two. Both made to be someone they aren't but they end up living the lie.

No I got the hallucination part and all that stuff. How the hell did OCELOT see her? THAT is what I don't understand. Ocelot tells Venom she's there, and he goes in there with Venom the first time he sees her. Was that a hallucination too, Ocelot being there?

Yes, Ocelot was also a hallucination.

He does say that. Not to mention the game throws clues at you throughout, including during the very first Ocelot briefing tape. There's no mention of brain damage or amnesia, yet Ocelot feels it's necessary to explain how and when they met? And the other major giveaway happens when you have to go look for a Russian translator. Anyone familiar with the series knows Big Boss speaks Russian. Anyone paying attention would have been questioning it from the beginning of the game. That is why I don't understand why people are so mad about it.

Exactly. I said that in another post about this. But the game throws clue after clue at you from the first time Ishmael speaks. For me, it literally was the first time I heard him speak that I knew something was very wrong. BB not speaking Russian was clue #2. Then there were small things here and there, but the nail in that coffin was absolutely the DNA thing.
