The current theory is that the last word was thorn before it was corrupted. And dredgon yor and tye mystery guardian in the last word grimoire are the same person. Think about it. So they already have a purified thorn.

Shin Malphur and Dredgen Yor are two different people. The reason the 2 shots are heard is because it seemed to have been an old fashion shootout but with TLW's hip fire prowess Shin got the draw on Dredgen at the time he fired. Malphur's shot hit true and Yor fell. Edit: this is just my theory before a huff is created.

In a technical sense, there is only 1 of each Exotic in existence in Destiny's lore, so multiple Last Words and Thorns or anything is really impossible. But considering that the last owner of the Last Word killed Dredgen Yor, it being the Thorn is unlikely, but I can see where people would get the idea.

No the idea is that metaphorically they're the same guy. And when the owner of the last word goes into the woods at the ens of the grimoire he essentially becomes Dredgon Yor. The writer in the grinoire says he hears two shots one sharp and crisp [spoiler]The Last Word[/spoiler] And one dark and evil [spoiler]Thorn[/spoiler] since he never sees the Guardian again either Dredgon Yor killed him or thats him becomming Dresgon Yor.

So sorry mate ur wrong. The original wielder and maker of the last word was a hunter named Jared Ward who was killed by Dredgen Yor amd then TLW was passed down to his protege Shin Malphur who avenged Jared by killing Dredgen Yor

Look I was simply stating a theory. As far as we know we are both wrong. Bungie hasn't come out either way and while a purified thorn sounds cool it would arguably be even more OP as its evile counter part. I mean lets say you can heal team mates with it. Like normal shots and you get like 25 assist points per health tick DoT 7 DoTs. And of course you deserve the assist when the Guardian wins the fight. So then you have teams cheesing raids and winning Crucible matches and making out like bandits in terms of points. Maybe even being on top with out a single kill. Now what i think would be a better idea is simply taking the health and giving it back to the Guardian weilding The 🌹 Rose.
