Nah this is purely speculation, if you want to get into the lore i'll let you know the truth. From the Thorn Grimoire card "In his strong hand the man held a Rose. And his aura burned bright. " so it says he has a Rose. "The first and only of his family. The sole forbearer and last descendent of the name Yor. " This debunks his involvement with the hive.(Name wise) "In his first moments as a new being, he looked down at his Rose and realized for the first time that it held no petals: only the jagged purpose of angry thorns." So when he turned into the darkness his weapon became an ugly self reflection of his greed. Which Makes me think his rose is a reflection of who he was when he was filled with light.

Otherwise, this would indicate multiple Rose hand cannons. I don't understand your point of debunking his association with the hive based on him having renamed himself after he transformed. The weapon was always "Thorn". It was a weapon of sorrow, and he started off filled with light, but over time Thorn penetrated his soul and corrupted him. In his last moments if his previous life, he acknowledged that, but chose to embrace it rather than deny it. In his transition, he finally grasped the true purpose of Thorn, not the naive view he held when he was light infused.
I don't understand your point of debunking his association with the hive based on him having renamed himself after he transformed.
Some were saying his transformation made him have a hive name such as yor (Because Xyor) and hive magics transform and distort realities such as names and appearance. So some were thinking that his name was Dredgen yor after transforming and because of dark give magic, but the grimoire says he is "The first and only of his family. The sole forbearer and last descendent of the name Yor. " Which means he named himself and has held it his whole life. If otherwise the grimoire would say his transformation gave him a new name. I think it may be but if only destinys story was more concise.

He was the first and only of his name because he chose it for himself after his transformation. He left his old heritage behind and did not pass on "Yor" to anyone. I believe it's saying he died alone, and because he chose the path he did, his curse of a name died with him. The only connection Yor had to the hive is that he possess a weapon of sorrow. How did he get it? My guess is he was involved in the battle against Crota on the moon, found it, and survived. He was unaware of what it was, only that it rekt.

The only connection that was revealed to us really. So he may have more involvement with hive magics, as he was obsessed with them. I knew he chose his name because he's the first and last of his kind.

So your telling me he wielded a weapon of sorrow (something like that lore shit) this WHOLE TIME? Ikora where you at?
