This means that people that don't buy TTK cannot use any high level TTK weapons and armor. They will also be excluded from the raid, new strikes and missions.

  • if you didn't buy TTK you wouldn't have the new raid missions and strikes and i think what they mean by "the level cap in the taken king will be 40" is that since they are releasing 2.0 on the 8th not the 15th then they are temporarily locking everyone out of being level 40 so people can't get to level 40 in the 7 days it takes for TTK to release

  • Nightfall? I already paid for that when I bought the base game. Why do I need to pay to access it again?

  • The simple answer is because bungie says so. You don't own the game. You own the disc at best. The game and it's content are bungies property and they allow you to play certain parts. You will have access to the strikes and nightfall befitting your pay status. If you don't buy ttk you will not have access to that content.

  • Apparently the Better Business Bureau thinks otherwise as to the letter of the law. Activision is in damage control by having to give people their money back from the complaints filed with the BBB.

We own a license to play the game as it exists on the disc. If Bethesda pushed out a mandatory update that removed the half the world from "Skyrim", they'd be assured to face a false advertising lawsuit! Bungie is straddling the line between a disc based game a subscription model. The DLC really straddle that line, and Bungie never explained the DLC were time limited events. This is something new and we should rightfully discuss whether game publishers can or should get away with it.

  • How about this. Why should you have access to content you don't pay for? Guns armour missions, quests, strikes etc. if you like the game you continue to support it. That means investing money in the game to continue to support and make it better. If you don't like the game enough to support it then by all means play something else don't complain you can't play the game you don't like enough to support but want to play all the old content that doesn't exist because it is a progressive game. Keep up or put the game away.

  • While you do have a legitimate point, you can't really blame gamers for wanting/expecting to maintain the ability to enjoy the content they paid money for, indefinitely. On that note, if you really break it down then the only things vanilla Destiny players are getting taken away from them are the Nightfalls, which technically isn't Bungie's fault because nightfall strikes were always meant to offer strikes at the max experience level. Those players will still have access to all vanilla missions, weapons, raids, planets, strikes, crucible modes, etc., that were available in the vanilla release. They'll even be able to compete in IB (of course, their weapons will be old and outclassed though).

  • And you are a fine example of why Bungie thinks they can keep abusing their consumers in more and more horrible ways, and charge more for the "privilege"... Your acceptance of this is -blam!-ing disgusting.

  • You've got a recorded playtime of 22days, 13 hours. To work that many hours in a fulltime job would take you 13 weeks. If Destiny were your job, you'd have cleared your three-month probationary period, and be entitled to full healthcare and holiday benefits. If you paid full price for Destiny and the season pass, you'd have paid 17¢ per hour to play the game. If you were to buy The Taken King Collector's Edition, yet never play it, that would mean you'd paid 29¢ per hour. I don't think you have grounds to claim that Bungie has ripped you off or is behaving unfairly, given that you've had months of entertainment for a price far less than almost any other AAA title.

  • And your denial of it is preposterous. Bungie created the box, play within it or don't play at all. The choice is yours. I accept that which I cannot change and enjoy the game so I will continue to support it.
