TFWPKY 1969 "the fall will probably kill you, but if it doesnt the bullets surely will." I couldn’t help but thinking that line or a derivative thereof also sounded familiar from somewhere else. Then I remembered, it’s referenced in the movie Collateral (2004), where old mate Tom Cruise plays a hitman by the (supposed) name of Vincent. This is the line according to IMDB: Max: You killed him? Vincent: No, I shot him. Bullets and the fall killed him.

yeah but 1969 is an obvious date in relation to the movie Butch Cassidy because it premiered the same year and had a verbatim line in the movie

  • Obviously. Given that I was unfamiliar with the release date / origin of the line from the Cassidy flick however, I just personally found it novel that my initial encounter with it was in fact an echo from somewhere else in pop culture. I love references to other pieces of pop culture, especially when those references resonate in a couple of places rather than one.
