Are Non Thorn and TLW users better?
It's a simply question..
I feel like a significant portion of Thorn and TLW users are not as skilled. I watch several streams of "top players" and there is a common theme. Some are good, some are not.
Blink, Thorn, TLW, Arc and Solor grenades.
Now, I'm not hating. It works. I personally play Gunslinger. With HSP and Tripmine
What I have noticed is that the skill it takes to use Thorn and TLW is so little. So I can't wait to see what all these players are going to do after the weapons patch. I think the weapons patch is going to deepen the skill curve. And I can't wait for that.
*I just want to throw this out there too. I think weapons like Thorn and TLW make you rusty and not as sharp. You should see the beating I hand Thorn and TLW players. Reguarly.
AFTER DISCUSSING SEVERAL THINGS WITH ALL OF YOU. I'VE BEEN USING MY MULTITOOL. I EVEN NOTICED MY AIM WAS OFF AFTER USING MY HSP. NOT TERRIBLY, BUT I FOUND MY RYTHM.

1 ReplyHSP is no different than TLW or thorn. With the right role it drops anyone with two bursts. Messenger is in the same boat. I'm not saying you lack skill. I'm not saying if you use thorn or TLW you lack skill. Its part of the meta. Thorn is personally a crouch for me. If I'm struggling and I grab that I do amazing. So for a challenge I try other weapons. I kinda suck with TLW honestly. But I've found that VoC is pretty good for PvP

I suck at pvp but my last 2 control games I did pretty well with tlw.

1 ReplyI've had a lot of success with pretty much any class and messenger, found verdict, Ash factory. I'm not the best by any means, but I've had some really good games lately with that setup.

I have TLW, used to use it exclusively in PvP but now I only use it for 15 hand cannon kills bounty. My main primary these days in standard crucible is Dead Air. In Iron Banner I use Mida. I stopped using TLW because it really did feel like easy mode and I wanted to actually improve as a player in PvP.

1 ReplyIt's competitive pvp, use everything you can to gain an advantage so you can win. Sure you might do good with your pilgrim. But a person who is average and uses the overpowered weapons will usually give you a good fight. It's all about winning not impressing others.

I may be wrong, but I honestly feel like my k:d ratio would be better if I did use thorn and tlw. I don't use them because they let you get kills too easily though.

No, honestly, with all the random nerfs and buffs, hand cannons are now the best weapons, imo. Personally, I used to do pretty well with my Suros. I won't say I was amazing but I was good enough to survive in PvP. My Suros could easily counter Thorn's and TLW's lack of range and stability and it kinda healed me too. But with the nerf, a Suros kill takes around 5 to 6 well placed shots as opposed to the previous 2 to 3 shots required. So I was forced to try hand cannons for PVP and it worked well for me (I can't stand Pulse or Scout rifles, btw). Now, if a guy kills me with a, let's say, a Shadow Price or something, I'm not gonna think "Oh, gosh. What a wonderful and majestic beast. I deserved to be wrecked by this player. I shall bow down and let him have me, amen". No, I'll just curse and continue playing and hope for the best. What I'm trying to say is that everyone uses Thorn and TLW because they're one of the best PvP weapons out there. And we all want to win at the end! Otherwise why are you even playing?! If you can make a non Thorn or TLW against everyone who uses them, more power to you. That just means you're really good with that weapon. That's good too, I suppose.

5 RepliesI use the last word for pretty much everything. Even after it gets nerfed, I guarantee you I'll still be a good player. Good players learn to adapt.
