My take? Generally my rep, influence and wallet go up when I smuggle them. Systems get economic booms. If everyone is ok with it then so am I.
Though there was that one time I jetisoned a load of them into a nearby star...

To be fair, they didn't give me any complaints. My time to trade them was up and I hadn't yet learned of the black market, so they had no value. I did the responsible thing and set them free into the vastness of space.
