Last gen doesn't hold GTA5 and PayDay 2 back for a reason. Their new versions don't run on the same servers as the last gen ones, and (if my assumption is correct) most data is stored on your hard drive. Destiny however runs everything except for player instances, last and current gen on, on the same servers, and stores very little on your hard drive. So it's pretty much impossible to separate 'last' and 'current' generations. their dependence on each other in the code makes it extremely difficult. (This is my theory anyway based on my knowledge of how servers work)
Plus, Bungie isn't choosing to shut down servers in 2016. Sony and Microsoft are choosing to end shut down the servers because they're running ten year old consoles. If Microsoft shuts down their X360 servers and Song shuts down their PS3 servers, it makes no sense for Bungie to continue to support Destiny servers for old gen since you wouldn't be able to connect to Xbox live or PSN anyway.
In other words, it's time for an upgrade. You're playing on ten year old hardware, and it's just the name of the game to have to upgrade every time a new generation comes out.

Lateral thinking with withered technology. That's the philosophy that Nintendo follows which means that as long as your games are fun, your technology may be old and withered.

You're living a pipe dream kid. Just suck it up, save your money and get a new console already. :P

That is a poor example. Nintendo does not make hardware intensive games like Destiny that need updated hardware. You are comparing apples to oranges. What Nintendo does works for them very well, but it will not work for Bungie, Microsoft, or Sony.

Thank you for saying they are inferior, ferior, ferior ;)
