Shotguns are going to be the new Autorifles
After looking at a lot of the TTK reveal gameplay in pvp
it's safe to say shotguns are taking a big nerf
maybe the current felwinter like shotguns will be decent in normal crucible
but for ToO and competitive playlists , I fear the new TTK shotguns at max level will be underpowered
the range looks pathetic
to the point you can hold their hands rather than kill them
I'm scared that the reaction to them being OP has made them utterly useless
which is exactly what happened with Autorifles
now this is coming from a shotgun whore
admittedly,
but I believe shotguns were only OP due to small map design and crazy movement mechanics like blink and slide
both made gap closing skill-less and too easy
they're my favourite weapon to use
in all FPS
I don't want to see them nerfed to oblivion
save the shotguns for us shit-blam!-s who don't know how to snipe for crap

Shotguns are supposed to be close-range. From what I saw of E3 gameplay the range looked normal. Also, shotguns are more for coming around a corner and tailing an enemy.

5 RepliesHi there and welcome to how things are supposed to be. Today's topic is: shotguns. Invented to be a [u]CLOSE QUARTER COMBAT[/u] weapon. The default rounds are scatter shots, meaning the spread out the farther the target is. Shotguns can fire slugs or use modified muzzles to reduce spread from farther ranges. 1 ReplyI feel ROF is going to play a bigger role when it comes to a shotgun's dominance. Since spread for shot package is increased, and shotgun range is decreased, faster fire will make up for it. Just a thought.

I really think shotguns should be a two shot kill. No instakills. It just feels real cheap to be taken out across the room from some of the Op shotguns. At least give people the chance to fight back. But yeah, i agree that shotguns should be a viable weapon after 2.0 update and not be nerfed into the ground.

2 Repliesgap closing is only skill less when you play against scurbs decent players can pick me off well before you get to them and i can do the same the fact is bungie only cares about the crybabys they killed auto rifles even know they knew there was no problem with them. and now shotguns which work perfect up-close its the most powerful choice but from afar its useless I really dont get the big deal with people using shot package it is a nerf to just piss the real players off and hold hands of the scurbs

definately need a nerf in pvp (mainly the newer shotguns), but rather they leave it alone for Pve
