Shotguns are going to be the new Autorifles

After looking at a lot of the TTK reveal gameplay in pvp it's safe to say shotguns are taking a big nerf maybe the current felwinter like shotguns will be decent in normal crucible but for ToO and competitive playlists , I fear the new TTK shotguns at max level will be underpowered the range looks pathetic to the point you can hold their hands rather than kill them I'm scared that the reaction to them being OP has made them utterly useless which is exactly what happened with Autorifles now this is coming from a shotgun whore admittedly, but I believe shotguns were only OP due to small map design and crazy movement mechanics like blink and slide both made gap closing skill-less and too easy they're my favourite weapon to use in all FPS I don't want to see them nerfed to oblivion save the shotguns for us shit-blam!-s who don't know how to snipe for crap

    Their range should be much shorter and that stupid range increasing perks need to be changed. But then again I only snipe so it's just good news to me they are getting nerfed

  • I snipe shotgun combo. Shotguns need a little nerf in range cuz the maps are small but not much more

  • Don't worry about shotguns too much. Back in the Halo days, shotguns could only one shot you if you were within one foot. I often got shot then melee'd. And shotguns were still Power Weapons that you picked up.

      • No shotgun's feeling will ever surpass that of the shotguns in Half Life 2. In fact, almost all the weapons in that game have that perfect feeling. The best of them all, imo, was the Combine assault rifle.

      • Shotguns wouldn't need a nerf if they put First Light and Bastion into the rotation every once in a while. Too many of the maps are designed for close quarters only, and the ones that aren't, are not in the rotation. Problems not the sand, its the box.

        Shotguns were never OP. Poor map design led to the belief that they were OP. Take combined arms for example; shotguns are laughed at in that game mode because the map forces you to only use them in certain situations. Yes, if you get close to a shotgunner in combined arms, you're going to die if you have, say, a sniper equipped (which is what they are intended for? Close combat, duh). Not the go-to since there's a corner every 50 feet in all other map types.

            They will be just fine you just won't be able to run around and use them like a primary. Perks like knee pads and that slide you are talking about will help close the range gap and they will still be king up close. The nerf will allow room for hand canons to stay relevant with their range nerf and potentially bring fusion rifles back into the mix at least somewhat again. All in all, I think pvp will be a lot better with less people running around using the gun as a primary. Slide + shotgun + mele will still be deadly up close.

            [i]GOOD[/i]. Shotguns should never be the primary go-to weapon in an online FPS. It ruins any fun and just becomes who has the shotgun with the most range so they an one-hit kill everyone.

            • I used to try to use snipers and fusion rifles, but after I used a shotty with shot package, I knew that if I wanted to get a few kills, I had to use Shotguns. I would love for the four weapon types to be balanced, but as long as a shotty can one shot you from much to long of a range, then people will use shotguns. Fusion Rifles had the same issue in the beginning, sidearms just don't deal enough damage as of yet, and Snipers seemed to be balanced by actual skill. I hope shotties are nerfed, and fusion rifles left as is, and sidearms given more weapons to fully explore the types of side arms that can be had, in order to find a viable build instead of buffing them, then making one to strong.

            • Well in the gameplay we've seen, those more most likely shitty shotguns. I believe shotguns will still be really good, especially since not everyone is a good sniper

            • Yeah map design was the real problem. They also should have normalized ranges across the class and not added range boost perks for them. Then extended the damage range so time to kill is equivalent at max effective range so by the time a 2 shooter reaches the one shot range on a high damage, it'd just be pulling the trigger for the 2nd time.
