Red Death is absolutely two shot, if all six are head shots. Look, Red Death really isn't meant for anything other than close to mid range engagements due to the recoil and range. In that sweet spot, you're beastly though because pacing those shots and taking advantage of that health regen is amazing. The Messenger (not that I have one, but from fighting it) seems to be built for longer engagements. As long as you pick your engagement area, and have steady aim, Red Death will absolutely outgun the Messenger. I do it all the time

To get the 2 shot kill I need to be very accurate and need to use cover to my advantage. The health regen perk on red death is why it is an exotic. If you learn to manage the recoil it is an absolute beast. I think both guns are great, and good where they are. Ps, if you want a messenger like gun outside of trials you can grind dragon strikes for hopscotch pilgrim. It can be rolled with 100% stability and has messenger base stats.

Red death is a beast for rumble, as soon as you get into a rhythm you're unstoppable and always ready for the next engagement

Agreed. Both are two shots just as any pulse rifle is after the pulse rifle update... Idk where op got his info from.
