Help! Should I buy The Taken King? Age 72
I hate to keep mentioning the fact that I'm 72 - but I am and my age severely affects my play in Destiny. My reflexes are slower, hand/eye coordination is worse and my eyesight is poorer than younger players. I also have periferal neuropathy in my hands (that's a medial condition that causes you to lose feeling in your hands and feet). I'm not complaining, just stating facts. No sympathy please.
I've played every day since late January 2015 and Destiny is the first and only video game I ever played until that point. Through persistence and some luck (the GHorn dropped on me an April) I've managed to get my three characters to level 32 but can't get them leveled any further. I stink in the Crucible and have never done the VOG or Crota's End simply because I didn't want anyone feeling like they had to wait for me or I was slowing them down. I also get killed a lot so I need to be revived a lot. I have managed to succeed in POE but I went to Machine Wrath from POE with another 32 and a 33 and we got smoked - several times. I would really like to continue with Destiny but I've seen that the levels are going to 40 and if I can't get any higher than 32 now, why should I buy something I can't play? Any advice would be appreciated.

There's a different level system in the taken King. All you need to do to level up is by getting XP, whether it's from doing bounties or just killing things. It will be much easier than the current system.

And as for not being able to play after the update you'll actually be able to play more and rank quicker it's no longer a grind for gear it's all xp so no matter what you do or play you rank up jus might take a lil longer but you'll hit 40 for sure

Amazing! The taken king will be great for you! Leveling based on experience/play time. Don't be afraid to find a great raid team. It's a great experience and worth the try! You only live once!

The max level will be based on experience- not light level. You will find it a great deal easier to level up and progress. If you like the game, which it sounds like you do, I say go for it. Everything I've seen so far looks pretty good

It also has more different things to do that should suit your gaming skills, like founding parts to build a weapon, testing weapons prototypes from the gunsmith...... My advice is simple. If you like the game, if it makes you feel good and if you can afford it just buy it and make the best of it. After all it's just a game, have fun, enjoy your playing time and don't put yourself down because of your age or health problems. The secret is to keep breathing and enjoying life :)

Definitely some of the stuff that is to hard for u rt now will be doable with a couple more levels under your belt. Sign up for help with things on the 100io website make sure to put your age and people will flock to help u

My only advice is just play at your own pace, if you're happy playing destiny don't rush to get where everyone is at, play at your own rate and enjoy the game If you really enjoy destiny buy the new expansion I'm sure you will get a load of fun, I know I am

If you play on xbox one please let me know for me and my friends will be more than happy to help you. We started a help clan on Xbox one where we help in anything from raids / Poe / and even teaching and showing short cuts. Please send me a message, we will help in any way we can We are on xbox but I do work with people that have a play station. Hopefully I can help you out. For anyone trying to sway the OP away from destiny for any reason. He has done more in his life than most of you. If the man wants to play destiny he can play, and shame on those who turn their back on a fellow guardian.
