Help! Should I buy The Taken King? Age 72
I hate to keep mentioning the fact that I'm 72 - but I am and my age severely affects my play in Destiny. My reflexes are slower, hand/eye coordination is worse and my eyesight is poorer than younger players. I also have periferal neuropathy in my hands (that's a medial condition that causes you to lose feeling in your hands and feet). I'm not complaining, just stating facts. No sympathy please.
I've played every day since late January 2015 and Destiny is the first and only video game I ever played until that point. Through persistence and some luck (the GHorn dropped on me an April) I've managed to get my three characters to level 32 but can't get them leveled any further. I stink in the Crucible and have never done the VOG or Crota's End simply because I didn't want anyone feeling like they had to wait for me or I was slowing them down. I also get killed a lot so I need to be revived a lot. I have managed to succeed in POE but I went to Machine Wrath from POE with another 32 and a 33 and we got smoked - several times. I would really like to continue with Destiny but I've seen that the levels are going to 40 and if I can't get any higher than 32 now, why should I buy something I can't play? Any advice would be appreciated.

If on ps4 you can add me and I'll get some clan mates to help run you through VoG and Crota. Just message me and let me know. Should be on a fair amount Saturday and Sunday. You won't hold us back and we can run through it as fast or as slow as you want.

You should get it because from what I hear light leveling is changing and the makers say that if you play consistently you will reach light level 40 and I'm under the impression that no raids would be needed. I have some friends that wouldn't mind doing VOG or Crota's End with somebody. We help people often. What console are you on?

1 ReplyCheck out the article on the 100. It'll set you up with a group of 100 other like minded players like yourself. You can make games well in advance and sign up to take part in other people games well in advance. Before I joined the 100 I had horrible issues with LFG groups. I now play with other people that are a similar age to me, and have similar play styles and I have played all the content in the game.

If you were on Xbox 1 I would help you finish your moments of triumph this weekend. Maybe someone else will. All you have left is Atheon, gold chests (both easy) and skolas. Skolas is the only somewhat hard one but still do-able

4 RepliesThe new level cap is experience based, so if you kill enough bad guys in PvE and/or PvP you'll eventually get there. You won't need to obtain Etheric Light or Raid armor to hit the max level. There will still be a light level but one can only hope that it will be easier to get a higher light level while already being maximum character level.

Yes, I'd imagine that video games are a good way to improve your reflexes. Also, with the new method of leveling up, you should be able to get to 40 even without doing activities that you don't feel you can accomplish. And who knows, you might feel confident enough to try the tougher activities after some more time playing. Good luck Guardian!

And taken king is level up based on experience not light level so it is just like when you were playing to get to 20.

The leveling system is changing with the next expansion so you're good on that. Kill stuff, gain XP, level increases. If you stick with PVE your probably better off if your reflexes aren't that good, I don't enjoy pvp, I suck at it actually, so it's easy for me to say. I say if you enjoy playing then rock on. If you're on ps4 look me up and I'll gladly ru, strikes, raids, whatever with you or anyone else for that matter.

Yes buy it and add me I can take you through hard mode CE and VOG. I can also help you get to 34, I helped a 28 get to 34 in about 3 weeks so I can help you too

If you were on Xbox I'd carry you through Poe (not 35 because I just refuse to do it anymore). I'm just twiddling my thumbs until TTK releases.

If you enjoy the game, buy the expansion. There will be more core stuff you can play solo. Don't worry about reaching max level if your not going to raid. Btw - go to an LFG site or recruitment here and look for a clan. There are a lot of good people playing destiny who will take you in.
