Hi HeartStrong07,
The Digital Upgrade Program only works when you transfer from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, take in mind that the only expansions that transfer are The Dark Below and House of Wolves. [b]The Taken King is not part of this offer[/b], you will have to purchase this expansion twice.
Also the expansions are not backwards compatible, so if you buy them on Xbox One they will not transfer for free to Xbox 360 making you to buy everything twice.

Okay, so I need to a) choose, and b) if I choose Xbox 360, I need to a c) pre-order disc version, or d) wait until digital download version is available for xbox 360. Is this correct? Thank you!

If you pre-order the Xbox 360 version of The Taken King take in mind that it will not transfer for free to your Xbox One making you buy it twice, so choose carefully on which console you are going to play the most.
