Rip gjallarhorn 9/15/2015
Before you read this isn't a salty post. I'm just holding a mourning for a great formation of pixels.
Gjallarhorn. That word means something to every destiny player. The words might be different, but everyone respects that guns power. We all also remember our first raid. Whether it ended in victory or defeat, shards or exotics, shaders or armor, we remember it. After that more raids. And more and more and more. Many of us chasing one elusive weapon... Gjallarhorn.
I think that gjallarhorn is more then an exotic launcher to most players. It's saying I've been there, I've done that and I got this. But soon it will be forgotten.
Gjallarhorn will not be getting a damage bonus in ttk.
It will probably never get another damage bonus. Ever.
As all year one players we have to remember the legacy of the ghorn. The jokes, the two weeks he sold it, even smoggypluto. Because it is part of us.
In some time many will never know about the ghorn. They will have never felt it's power, and it's beautifulness. Soon the ghorn will be a thing in the past, forgotten and broken.
But I don't want that. Not one bit.
So I'm asking all of you. Squeaker to 101 years old. Protect the legacy of ghorn. I want to kill a raid boss in year ten and pull out a old, formally gold and white rocket, and fire it at the sky in triumph. I want the sky to be lit afire by the Wolfpack. That's what it means to be legend.

Emergency edit 2: I'm not salty at the ghorn being nerfed, I just want people to remember the gun fondly.

Gjally, old friend, i hardly knew you, my fully upgraded time with you has been short. You were not quite the myth i was lead to believe, not quite the gamechanging crutch some make you out to be, but your effect is most definitely noticeable. While you won't turn a level 29 noob into a 34 machine, you can allow a 1 red bar of health warlock to walk off a 34 POE map a victor when Hunger of Crota would have failed me. I will miss you, but as long as i remember you, you're never really gone (your just in the vault)...

I'm glad they're nerfing and not upgrading the gjallarhorn, it's honestly a crutch, I have all these exotics I don't use because the only way to play is popping heavy and spraying them all at one enemy, it's honestly disappointing, before ghorn I was using my trust last word I had since week 2, then my friend got ghorn and thought he was better than everyone because he was basically needed to do vog hard mode when it came out, caused us to while countless times fighting Crota because instead of telling the sword barer to go he's yell "GJALLARHORN GO!" And just -blam!- it all up, then I got it and just slowly became more and more disappointed in myself, only strategy is to use it, omg new boss, let's use gjallarhorn, omg a bunch of enemy's bomb gjallarhorn...

Reasoning: let's just pretend this 280 for Y2 is BASE damage and it can be upgraded to 320 (crazy number for arguments sake) and let's just pretend 160 is as high as Y1 will go (which it isn't - either going to be 172 or 190) Here's the math for that: 9 pieces of gear at 320 a piece = 2,880 1 Y1 weapon at 160 + 2880 = 3040 3040 / 3200 (10 pieces of gear at theoretical max light) = .95 exactly Meaning even with my absurd unlike scenarios on a worst case bases, Y1 weapons in combined with 9 other max light gear is a 5% hit to overall damage. This is because damage is no longer calculated based on the attack value of the weapon alone, but your overall average that goes into your Light.

This is just some BS!!!! I knew when xur sold it again that something was going down. Even tho I earned my two I still bought another. Why idk just because I guess. And now them days are suppose to be over. And I have a feeling that none of the year two rocket launchers won't even barely compare to what my ghorns are exotic or not. ;(
