Well in trials you must get three very good teammates and communicate. On top of this you must win multiple matches in a row without failing. And to get a piece of gear at level 42 you must win games, which is not easy

Whether or not those players are "good" isn't really an issue. Trials of Osiris isn't skill based matchmaking, it's connection based. You can go up against complete scrubs all 9 of your games and have no difficulty at all going flawless. It's really just a flip of the coin on whether or not you're going to go up against highly skilled players. I've had several games in a row where my team just completely stomps the enemy. Your point about winning multiple matches is kind of moot, mainly due to the fact that there are boons in place. With boons you can EASILY get the armor and weapon from Trials. Hell, you win just 1 match and you already have 3 wins given to you for free, and if you can't win just 2 more to get that armor piece, then that doesn't mean that winning in Trials is hard, it means that you need to improve your skills. On the off chance that you do lose 3 games in a row, then you can easily discard your trials passage, buy a new one along with new boons, and simply try again. And this time probably against crappier opponents (again Connection based matchmaking makes games generally easier as opposed to skill based). The whole argument that it's harder to win in trials is very subjective. I'd say it's harder to win in Iron Banner due to the lag (which has often times kicked me for no apparent reason, despite having great internet).
