It is being left behind mostly because bungie done messed up and it too powerful so people don't get excited about new loot

But what about all the amazing raid content from year one... No meaningful rewards?

Shards and energy can be motes/glimmer which could be useful also if mythoclast and necrochasm get bought forward they are always a good reason

It wasn't a waste of a raid though because you were a part of it when it was relevant. When it mattered you took part and battled. Now it isn't relevant anymore and that's kinda just how it goes. Simpler terms..... It's why CDs killed cassettes and digital downloads killed CDs... It's just time to move on
