Gjallarhorn doesn't have proximity detonation like the truth does. It's not really necessary with tracking.
How about not "tuning" weapons and play the game face value. Go play something else if you don't like it.

1. It already does have proximity detonation, it is a hidden perk. 2. The weapon is getting tuned anyway, but the current method Bungie is doing seems somewhat simplistic and shortsighted. 3. I enjoy this game, that is why I'm willing to write a long post providing a very detailed alternative to the current nerf.

1. I have shot rockets with the ghorn that didn't explode and just missed their target. I respectively disagree about any hidden perk. 2. I agree. Doesn't mean I like it. Destiny even made a post a few months ago before the 2.0 tuning that they try to not do weapon tuning. 3. Fair point...and this IS the appropriate venue for the discussion after all.

When you unlock the signature perk on exotics, it activates the hidden perk, if that particular exotic has one. When you unlock Wolfpack rounds on gally, it will quickly become the source of many "Guardian Down" announcements, as it inevitably detonate on enemies near or behind the user if you're not careful.

Thunderlord makes people explode

It's not the same as truth which is all I'm saying. Enemies in front of you are going to get tracked and if too close yes, yes you will die. Never seen an explosion happen because a thrall was attacking behind you. Never saw anyone blow up on the ledge like that when attacking crota when they come out after ogres.
