- Yes the thread title changed to make the debate more accurate.
- Summary of the old body of content is found below
- With new matchmaking this system will be easier to judge.
NOTE: By dictating I mean by Bungies view on statistical information among the higher skilled players.
QUESTION: Why should a player who doesn't understand his class; not understand the line of sights to maps; not understand the mechanics of weapons be a reasonable voice for what needs to be nerfed and what is OP when clearly their level of play is below the curve so everything is OP to them.
Summary of Previous Body of Content
I hope when matchmaking changes you only judge PVP from the higher tier players and let the lesser players actually learn to be good.
The only way to actually tell if something is OP is if it's dominating in the higher tier of competitive players which in turn shows there is no counter.
Please keep debate on topic since earlier when this was posted it got out of hand with one line trolls

Old Edits so I don't have to keep answering the same Questions.

EDIT: Your real KD is found in the Grimoire card Crucible Introduction and is all kills and deaths under every Crucible mode from the start of your game to present so the argument about making a new guardian is irrelevant.
EDIT: So many people think those who have a high KD have a high KD because of Thorn and TLW but it's actually skill and when the meta changes those people will still be on top and make the next weapons look OP.
EDIT: I have played extensively on all 3 guardians. I don't have time to play and constantly grind on all 3 so I kept the class who is best in PVP because that's what I mainly play. If I were to choose a class overall I love Warlock but the Hunter has one skill in PVP that trumps all and that's "Quick Draw".
EDIT: Once Bungie implements skilled matchmaking the game will get better and that's when you ONLY view the higher level matchmaking players. The ones with actual skill and knowledge of weapons who can find counters.
EDiT: yes my total KD from the start of the game is 1.47 so therefore I didn't make this post about me "shocking" so posts directed towards me rather than the topic at hand have all been snuffed out because they are illogical.

1 ReplyPeople who make threads like these shouldn't dictate PVP Nerfs either.
-
Op has one character. Op has no say

Lol. Wow. U should do your research on how and why bungie decides to make changes. It's based on DATA and player feedback. You know who has the loudest voice, people like datto and triplewrek

14 RepliesPvP dynamics are going to change. You can call it "catering to the scrubs" all you want. Changes are going to happen, you may or may not agree with all of them. The game isn't truly built for competitive people. It's built for people who want to have fun with gunplay. ~TheGreatNike

Lets leave Nerf to Hasboro
-
Players with less than a 2.0k/d.. -blam!- the scrubs. This games going down hill and turning into a breeding ground for filthy casuals!!

3 RepliesEdited by Zain: 8/18/2015 2:03:00 PMPlayers with one class should not have an opinion on any other class.
see why this is stupid?
As for my KD, if I restarted to get rid of my bad games, Id be ~2.0
-
Your KD's only a 1.47 though...

Edited by NinjaJohnno: 8/18/2015 2:12:43 PMIn the case of blink a nerf was warranted, blink removes a lot of skill involved in closing the gap to shotgun. I use it more defensively so the nerf will affect me, but oh well adapt or quit.
-
1 ReplyPretty sure I could dominate you with NLB and a fusion rifle.
-
"give me attention I have an above average KD and everyone below is bad" this is all I can read there
-
I get where you're coming from and all. But the problem is I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of high kd players use the meta(aka the broken weapons that need fixing) So of course they wouldn't want their best guns nerfed. The problem with destiny Is that the gun will make you better than skill can. So those "at the top" may not have a clue, but will do what helps them out
-
I don't know my KD (lol) but I use Shotgun most of the time and think it's too good at ranges
-
7 RepliesThere is a very obvious reason why you're wrong. Someone with a 1.25 k/d that can run any gun and go positive vs someone who only runs thorn, blink and shotgun and has a 1.6... I value the 1.25 opinion over the 1.6 any day.

Says the guy with TLW, Matador, and Ash Factory equipped on his BladeDancer. That combo os weapons is what allows you to maintain a certain KD. Skill or lack thereof only makes about a %20 of that KD. The other %80 is a result of weapon selection. Go play a crucible match and see the setup of the player atop the leader board. 9 out 10 says he/she has the same weapon setup you have. Also would like to point out that RNG makes your poitn of "everyone has the same weapons" invalid.

5 RepliesPlayers with more than 10000 exotic handcannon kills should not dictate PvP, scrub.

Let me make a theory on why you're a bitch. Your parents were inbred hillbillies that key you play CoD as early as 4, which made you a developed gamer. At this point you have nothing to do with your life but your one skill, being a gamer. So you take out the pain of your worthless existence on others who don't devote their lives to games, but still demand a fair ground to play on.

6 RepliesI agree, I figured once I got my warlock leveled up and started pvp'ing with it that I would be some kind of god with blink. Not the case. It does take time to learn how to use it and it does require skill to use it properly without confusing yourself. Also there are counters for everything, including blink, and most good players know how to take advantage of them. It is kind of sad that Bungie caters to all the cry babies.
-
Sorry when i get one shot by thorn and dot takes me exactly to shields ... there is something wrong, it is a a noob weapon sorry , are there people extremely good with it? Yes ... but truth is truth , damn thing is OP

While 1.5 k/d is a bit of an arbitrary bar to set, it is true that in general balancing decisions should be made around high level play. Players with less time in and/or understanding of the crucible are in less of a position to make calls on what is overpowered and what is not. That said, the current meta DOES dominate high level play, there is a reason the sweaty competitions ban some elements of the game.
-
They could always start their character over. Then drop all the bad games from early on. That would help their k/d. You did it, so it must be a pro strat for bumping up your k/d enough to be a douche ... Muted.

Edited by ChrisOfTheDead: 8/18/2015 3:36:31 PMThey've said their goal is to have people choosing weapons/loadouts that they want to play and have fun with. When they see that the vast majority of people were all doing the exact same thing, they see that as: Oh! In our system, there is one combo that always wins over all others. Our game shouldn't be Thorn and Shotty simulator 2015, it's supposed to have a variety of tools to all equally accomplish the same goals! And if they all can accomplish the same goals, then players are free to play whatever they want. Not be forced to play one way or forever be destroyed by the other people playing that way. In it's current state, it is either you die, or you join the one dominant strategy. What it should be is: you can use whatever tools you want, and then it truly is down to skill of the players.

Omg finally someone said it haha

I think bungie dictate the nerfs. I'm cool with that.
