- Yes the thread title changed to make the debate more accurate.
- Summary of the old body of content is found below
- With new matchmaking this system will be easier to judge.
NOTE: By dictating I mean by Bungies view on statistical information among the higher skilled players.
QUESTION: Why should a player who doesn't understand his class; not understand the line of sights to maps; not understand the mechanics of weapons be a reasonable voice for what needs to be nerfed and what is OP when clearly their level of play is below the curve so everything is OP to them.
Summary of Previous Body of Content
I hope when matchmaking changes you only judge PVP from the higher tier players and let the lesser players actually learn to be good.
The only way to actually tell if something is OP is if it's dominating in the higher tier of competitive players which in turn shows there is no counter.
Please keep debate on topic since earlier when this was posted it got out of hand with one line trolls

EDIT: Your real KD is found in the Grimoire card Crucible Introduction and is all kills and deaths under every Crucible mode from the start of your game to present so the argument about making a new guardian is irrelevant.
EDIT: So many people think those who have a high KD have a high KD because of Thorn and TLW but it's actually skill and when the meta changes those people will still be on top and make the next weapons look OP.
EDIT: I have played extensively on all 3 guardians. I don't have time to play and constantly grind on all 3 so I kept the class who is best in PVP because that's what I mainly play. If I were to choose a class overall I love Warlock but the Hunter has one skill in PVP that trumps all and that's "Quick Draw".
EDIT: Once Bungie implements skilled matchmaking the game will get better and that's when you ONLY view the higher level matchmaking players. The ones with actual skill and knowledge of weapons who can find counters.
EDiT: yes my total KD from the start of the game is 1.47 so therefore I didn't make this post about me "shocking" so posts directed towards me rather than the topic at hand have all been snuffed out because they are illogical.

5 RepliesMy kd is below 1 but I'll still beat you in every game or carry you through any raid. Get good bro

Bungie is not "taking advice" from anyone. Bungie is operating with statistics and numbers. As you have seen in the weapon balance preview those numbers don´t lie. There are certain perks and weapons that stand out and offer a clear advantage over the others. THAT´S why they´re nerfing it, not because someone cried on the forums

Pvp isn't made for only the "elite pvpers." It's for everyone to enjoy, and when the "elite pvpers" exploit overpowered tools to dominate consistently, it takes the enjoyment out of it for the majority. Yes, if they are truly skilled, they will master other weapons in a completely balanced world, but in a completely balanced world, the diversity will be much greater than about 3-4 weapons.

I think you're right about skill being largely overshadowed by the weapons being used and that the weapon somehow determines the effectiveness of the player. It doesn't because when I try and use TLW I can't snipe players from across the map or consistently two shot players. I'm emptying the magazine on full auto and hoping something positive happens. It's an improvement but not that much of an improvement where I can conclude that its the overpowered weapon doing all the work. So while I agree with you there I'm not sure I understand what it is you're trying to suggest regarding use of k/d in decision making. If you really wanted to make a decision on the strength of a weapon you need to measure what all players across skill level can do in a 100 games with a white or green hand cannon, and what they can do with TLW. Same with any other piece of equipment that is considered overpowered and actually see what improves K/D the most and figure out why.

9 RepliesI'm dog sheeeeet at pvp but I've got 450 zone captured on control on my hunter which is no means a lot since I've started playing pvp the last iron banner (week 1 player tho) you have 130 something...... Please stop talking about pvp your self..... You weren't there

Change it to "people with less than 1 million medal score have no opinion on nerfs in pvp"
-
1) Can't form a coherent thought? Check. 2) Can't present an argument and needs 6 edits (and counting) to patch up the original sorry argument? Check. 3) Implies there's skill behind use of Thorn and The Last Word? Check. OP, you've nailed yourself an excellent Desticle post.

I lol'd so hard at edit 2.

It's funny because once all the things people whined about get nerfed, the "good" players will still be dominating the game with the next weapon presented to me. 1 thing I hate is noob players who use these crutches and manage to get kills or win a round off me in trials. It's weird. When the new patch comes in, if there are any op combinations, the not so good players are going to be the ones abusing them :)
-
So like a Trickle-Down game design? Let the tippy top decide what works for them and then everyone else gets to just play along without a say in the matter?

4 Replies"NERR CASUALS CANT ENJOY DESTINY" Stop making yourself look stupid

I like how you have a completely fake kd since you remade your character

14 RepliesHaha, you said "handicap themselves with lack of skill." You actually said "handicap themselves". Outside of golf, I don't think anyone handicaps themselves. That might be one if the silliest things I have read hear on the forums. Handicap themselves..... jeezus what will these people think of next??? Good lawd...

Blink is OP And every single weapon nerf / buff coming was needed The fact that you disagree is absolutely pathetic on your part

13 RepliesAfter watching twitch streams many of the pro players support the changes. Everyone knows it's broken current state.

1 ReplyThanks for the info about calculating ones proper KDR. I'm at a stellar .75 at the moment. On one hand, people are free to complain. On the other hand, complainers are losers in attitude if nothing else. I'm boiled shit in crucible but I am improving. I don't have any fantasies that nerfs/balancing is what's holding me back from achieving legendary crucible status. Practicing, not playing smart, and lack of communication are.
-
4 RepliesKD =/= skill. I personally have a horrendous KD since I'm not a tryhard on crucible and I sometimes find new ways to kill myself on the map. Top 3% in suicides here.

2 RepliesBungie doesn't base nerfs on just whining. They have data and shit they use
-
1 ReplyDo i have a bad kd??????
-
True.. But sometimes it's the higher kd players that abuse the op things in the game and want to keep them like blink shotgunners ppl that didn't want arc blade nerfed.. Thorn and last worders mostly thorners.. All those ppl got high kids by using op shit most likely and some times we don't notice or choose to ignore how op stuff is

2 RepliesPpl still brag about K/D in 2015?

6 RepliesYeah... But what's your real life KD
