- Yes the thread title changed to make the debate more accurate.
- Summary of the old body of content is found below
- With new matchmaking this system will be easier to judge.
NOTE: By dictating I mean by Bungies view on statistical information among the higher skilled players.
QUESTION: Why should a player who doesn't understand his class; not understand the line of sights to maps; not understand the mechanics of weapons be a reasonable voice for what needs to be nerfed and what is OP when clearly their level of play is below the curve so everything is OP to them.
Summary of Previous Body of Content
I hope when matchmaking changes you only judge PVP from the higher tier players and let the lesser players actually learn to be good.
The only way to actually tell if something is OP is if it's dominating in the higher tier of competitive players which in turn shows there is no counter.
Please keep debate on topic since earlier when this was posted it got out of hand with one line trolls

Old Edits so I don't have to keep answering the same Questions.

EDIT: Your real KD is found in the Grimoire card Crucible Introduction and is all kills and deaths under every Crucible mode from the start of your game to present so the argument about making a new guardian is irrelevant.
EDIT: So many people think those who have a high KD have a high KD because of Thorn and TLW but it's actually skill and when the meta changes those people will still be on top and make the next weapons look OP.
EDIT: I have played extensively on all 3 guardians. I don't have time to play and constantly grind on all 3 so I kept the class who is best in PVP because that's what I mainly play. If I were to choose a class overall I love Warlock but the Hunter has one skill in PVP that trumps all and that's "Quick Draw".
EDIT: Once Bungie implements skilled matchmaking the game will get better and that's when you ONLY view the higher level matchmaking players. The ones with actual skill and knowledge of weapons who can find counters.
EDiT: yes my total KD from the start of the game is 1.47 so therefore I didn't make this post about me "shocking" so posts directed towards me rather than the topic at hand have all been snuffed out because they are illogical.

3 RepliesThe middle class idiot. There's more of us.

4 RepliesOne character (hunter obviously) with Last Word equipped. Of course you don't want anything nerfed.

Edited by Aname: 8/18/2015 6:47:29 PMThe thing about this though? You're not a good player if you don't realize something is broken. Most streamers will tell you that long range shotguns/last word/Thorn are broken in pvp. The time to kill is extremely short in long distance encounters when it shouldn't be. Let's be civil here. It's that these weapons haven't been addressed in so long that they were found to beat just about everything else. Scout rifles? Thorn beats them, last word does too. Pulse rifles aside from red death? Thorn and last word beat them out. Auto rifles? Riiiiiight... Those two weapons are just about the best in that slot, not to mention Thorn's ability to suppress recovery for so long
-
You're not helping your case with Last Word, Matador, and blink.
-
Yes, let the no life tryhards decide on the road map for a game. So that, for once in their life, they can feel important......in a video game.....using a fictional character. This is very logical so I'm surprised Bungie hasn't jumped aboard with this yet. And people wonder why the Destiny community sucks LOL

I agree with you, everyone has to learn to be better cx I sometimes wreck with my Grim Citizen and Praedyths Timepiece. And I'm usually on top :3 people have no excuse to be bad at the game. Just keep playing and you'll eventually improve. Whether your playing in a group or solo, you can still get better by playing crucible more often and not once and die repeatedly and get mad .__.

6 RepliesBeing 1.5 k/d puts you at like top 5% (i am guessing). You are a true American if you think the top 5% should decide how weapons should function.
-
Honestly im not too good at pvp, i have gone flawless once and I had a really good day and got solid kills, but i keep myself out of pvp I let people with more experience judge the weapons and nerfs
-
I don't think anyone should. Bungie has all the stats of what people use, and its their game. I'm not saying don't listen to the community for everything, but for this one, it's on them.
-
4 RepliesMute ftw! How about all people complaining in general (yourself included).
-
I find medal score a better representation than kd. Not very hard to keep a 1.5+ every game using thorn and last word.
-
Crazy cause even the top 1% of the 1% agree with these nerfs
-
My kd is terrible but I enjoy playing crucible and never had a problem with any weapons. Call me odd??
-
im sorry but the whole KD concept of this game is broken. there is no thing as "seasons", KD reset, or anything. 99% of people with 2+ KD (who you call TOP TIER) gained that KD during early game stages (first couple monthes i guess?) thanks to absence of all the bullshit weapons. plus, 99% of people with 2+ KD farm crucible with their friends etc. get yourself decent party and go 6 men crucible and ull get any kd you want. this game just lacks this competeviness. and why the hell they dont add VIEW PROFILE ingame button that would display your stats like win loss kill death etc? its not hard.

1 ReplyHow about players dont dictate nerfs at all and we leave balancing to the developers whos job it is every day to find balance in the game? Just a thought.
-
Players don't dictate nerfs, the majority does. Whether something is OP or not, if the majority finds it to get in the way of their enjoyment, something needs to be done. Also, I'm talking about the vocal majority on the forums. The people who don't come to the forums don't care either way, hence, not being on the forums.

1 ReplyI dunno, that means they're pretty good at know what getting shit on by op guns feels like. I'd say that's enough qualifications for me.
-
Well, TLW and Thorn are the go-to dominant primaries at top tier so their nerfs are clearly warranted. Not disagreeing with the sentiment that PvP should not cater to the bottom but (some of) the upcoming nerfs are needed
-
hes angry Bungie is taking away his easy mode set ups
-
Nerf everything I don't even care pvp is fairly unbalanced, too laggy, and because of both of those it shouldn't even be considered as something competitive
-
But sometimes it is the weapons that make the difference for instance that last word you have very glitchy
