- Yes the thread title changed to make the debate more accurate.
- Summary of the old body of content is found below
- With new matchmaking this system will be easier to judge.
NOTE: By dictating I mean by Bungies view on statistical information among the higher skilled players.
QUESTION: Why should a player who doesn't understand his class; not understand the line of sights to maps; not understand the mechanics of weapons be a reasonable voice for what needs to be nerfed and what is OP when clearly their level of play is below the curve so everything is OP to them.
Summary of Previous Body of Content
I hope when matchmaking changes you only judge PVP from the higher tier players and let the lesser players actually learn to be good.
The only way to actually tell if something is OP is if it's dominating in the higher tier of competitive players which in turn shows there is no counter.
Please keep debate on topic since earlier when this was posted it got out of hand with one line trolls

Old Edits so I don't have to keep answering the same Questions.

EDIT: Your real KD is found in the Grimoire card Crucible Introduction and is all kills and deaths under every Crucible mode from the start of your game to present so the argument about making a new guardian is irrelevant.
EDIT: So many people think those who have a high KD have a high KD because of Thorn and TLW but it's actually skill and when the meta changes those people will still be on top and make the next weapons look OP.
EDIT: I have played extensively on all 3 guardians. I don't have time to play and constantly grind on all 3 so I kept the class who is best in PVP because that's what I mainly play. If I were to choose a class overall I love Warlock but the Hunter has one skill in PVP that trumps all and that's "Quick Draw".
EDIT: Once Bungie implements skilled matchmaking the game will get better and that's when you ONLY view the higher level matchmaking players. The ones with actual skill and knowledge of weapons who can find counters.
EDiT: yes my total KD from the start of the game is 1.47 so therefore I didn't make this post about me "shocking" so posts directed towards me rather than the topic at hand have all been snuffed out because they are illogical.

Yep, this is perfect. Who the hell would listen to a bitch and not a intelligent person? I would rather top 1% vote though. We're in the core of competitiveness.
-
soo... me?

4 RepliesKd is in no way linked to the conversation of balancing in pvp. In fact, some of the biggest proponents for change are the MOST competitive people in the community, not the least.

4 RepliesEdited by IcyIcicles: 8/20/2015 8:31:17 PMThe discrepancy in the top 5% and top 1% is too huge. And a lot of top %ers play with a full team and pad stats. Recently in IB played against a guy who had a full team. His true skill is 50, hes in the top1% of a lot of categories. He went up against our full team. He went below 1.0 KD, he still tbagged, and proceeded to act like hot shit. My point is, being in the top 1% doesnt even account for anything. All he does is pad stats through pub stomps but he sucks in reality. I have been saying this from the start, add custom games and allow players of similar skill levels to play against each other at will. This will be the best show of whats imbalanced in crucible.

8 RepliesEdited by hailstone12: 8/20/2015 6:17:09 PMI don't think reaction time/hand-eye coordination is tied to understanding of the game. I've played this game since release, have a 1.4 K/D, and understand the game and maps completely. It doesn't take a genius to see how overpowered blink and some guns are. I've been playing FPS games my entire life, so I don't doubt there's people with the same knowledge as me who have an even lower K/D than me. You can say what you want about it, but blink is leagues above every other jump in the game in PvP. It's the onlu jump you literally have to have a tactic to counter, and that still doesn't give you the upper hand, just stops that attack. No jump should have to be countered, it's for mobility. Thorn can 2-shot from across the map, enough said. TLW has a TTK that competes with machine guns, can 2-shot due to the glitch, and can hit from a good range as well. Edit: I agree that people who are just better will stay better even after 2.0, but that still doesn't mean that the meta is unbalanced right now.

3 RepliesWhat if the stop 5% are thorn scrubs and blink/shotgun whores?
-
That's stupid Every paying customer deserves an opinion
-
I agree with some of your points but not all. When getting advice or evidence for or on any topic I would assume most people would try to find the most knowledgable source. This is because that source would have the most accurate advice which is what most people want. For example, let's say you had cancer and needed medical advice. Let's say your family physician consults with you and says that you do not need surgery for your tumor. You are then offered the chance to go meet the lead cancer researcher in the country and discuss what you should do. So you go and talk to the lead cancer researcher and he tells you that you should have surgery done. Whose opinion are you going to value higher? Now, that doesn't mean the top 5% of the game should be sole input for balancing. The fun thing about Destiny is that each class is a little bit OP but they all balance each other out very well. Most top players would want things like blink removed and other things that would dumb Destiny down. Casual players input is necessary because they always represent a majority of a games playerbase. Not everyone has the time to invest hours upon hours into this game like a have. That doesn't mean I don't want them to enjoy the game because I have played longer. That just means I have had more fun for longer. I mean your top 5% is excluding 95% of the Destiny community. That's a bit much. Destiny and Halo are both fun games but for different reasons. Halo is competitive and really hard when you get into the higher tiers of players. Destiny on the other hand is way more casual and allows for just really fun gameplay. Now this isn't to say that some weapons aren't blatantly OP. Thorn, TLW, FR snipers and all of the other unbalanced weapons need to be addressed. There has to be a middle ground in Destiny between ultra competitive and unbalanced.
-
Well in trials I'm in top 4% \(._.)/ making my way to top1%
-
Top 5% would make the game more into a competitive version kinda like sweaties. If the community decides it will stay casual like it is now
-
4 RepliesNo, the pure factual stats from bungie should dictate nerfs.
-
1 ReplyLol.... only an idiot woukd ignore 95% of the player base.
-
Doesn't matter how good or bad you are. You are getting killed by the same OP shit that everybody else is
-
2 RepliesI'm top 3% in crucible kills. Thorn and TLW are hilariously overpowered and anyone that thinks otherwise is an absolute idiot. If you can't win without them you're a scrub
-
I mean the top five percent are all using the same weapons and loadouts
-
5 RepliesEdited by scuzzgolem: 8/20/2015 6:43:13 PMPretty sure the best players agreed that final round Thorn long range shotguns TLW and Hawkmoon were broken and that autos sucked mega balls so not sure why you think they aren't dictating that. Only broken thing not getting fixed is the ram.
-
2 RepliesI kinda agree but catering to only 5% is a bad strategy for any kind of "democracy" like the way Destiny (kind of) runs off of. Besides, good players will remain good regardless of nerfs/buffs to anything. Just relax.
-
You're so right about quickdraw. I also love Knucklehead Radar, but, i love my Warlock more
-
Maybe that could happen, might not be a bad idea But some things like thorn/ handcannons in general are clearly to op to any player
-
16 RepliesWow people who have skill that makes weapons so easy I bet 90% of destiny players use HC no skill and 95% of those HCs are Thorn, TLW, and HawkMoon all no skill, if you use scout rifles and can rush and be aggressive then you can hang otherwise don't say you have skill of you use a HC cause you don't
-
Huh. So the practice field is more important, eh? Who knew!?
-
9 RepliesThat'd be neat. Or at least consult some of the top tier PvP players. It's funny, for the upcoming crucible reveal they tacked on a bunch of PvE cats, an I'm thinking, where the -blam!- are sweaty kids? Fizz best let'em know that Scouts need their time to shine nah ming.
-
Bungie is catering to casuals Hence why Bungie listens to the masses for PvP Also why PvE is getting revamped and the whole game is changing basically
-
A good player sees the things that a broken or have an edge over everything else. That's why they use it. They'll let be known too, cause good players want to enjoy the game and want everyone else too. Then there's the douche bag players. Dicks lol
-
It's a causal game, meant for causal players... bungie doesn't care about the hard core players.
-
3 RepliesThe middle class idiot. There's more of us.
