Thanks for taking the time to write up your thoughts on... well you touch on a lot of topics here. :) I always appreciate polite feedback.
There are a lot of arguments about comparing Destiny to MMOs, other FPSs, and so on. At the end of the day Destiny is it's own thing that has similarities to several genres. I will bring your concerns about Year 1 weapons to the developers but as of right now you are going to find more powerful weapons and armor in The Taken King. We have 5 days until the first big Twitch reveal and it will clear up a lot of ambiguity about the evolution into Year 2.

Bumping this, bungie is being rediculous, they can't dictate how they want players to play, taking away almost all of the current exotics just reducies diversity. So what if a guy wants to only use his icebreaker because he really enjoys using it, for example, also, people will want to use the new guns more than the old anyway, but it is an important thing to be able to go back and use some of our old favorites

On one hand, it seems like bungie is screwing us over with every aspect of TTK. On the other, it's just character progression. At one point in a game something is really hard to get, but later it's easier and seems like a horrible weapon/piece of gear. There are a lot of little details bungie screwed year one players about, but I think after a few weeks we'll get over it and be fine with how it's working. After all, TTK is improving a lot of things, too.

Thankyou cozmo for taking the time to reply to this thread. As you can see I think there is a real call to enable year one destiny players to be able to continue to level up their existing gear in all future destiny releases. From a game design perspective you really have nothing to lose... Enabling this feature would increase diversity of gameplay for all and keep all old content relevant. Players bored of they old gear can enjoy the more powerful taken king guns while older players attached to their existing gear can continue to use any gun or armour they see fit.You also would be making a lot of year one players feel like their time playing the game was worthwhile.

I got countless hours of fun, and I got my money's worth. Maybe I'll grab TTK in a few months if it's OK. Chances are it's going to be a steamy shit on my chest, and that's okay with me. Maybe I'll come back to Destiny if they ever decide to let me use my NL Shadow. There are a ton of great games I'd rather throw my money at the screen for.

Thanks man. I for one will keep an open mind and wait an see for myself what will happen. I am nervous about losing my vog weapons and armor that were so hard to get . So don't make me wrong about bungie. I love this game...

But evolution doesn't involve leaving every single old trait behind, but instead MAYBE slowly replacing old traits. If year 1 gear is gone, then TTK is NOT evolution. It's starting over.
