Bungie is quoted in a team meeting as saying
"It is our philosophy that high-quality gear should remain as rare as possible, and to that end, matchmaking will be limited. We want the players to continue drooling over these items; always keep them out of reach for the masses."

They want people stuck in the game and invest a lot of time 1000+ hours. So this people will never go away and pay every shitty DLC. Cause they are junkies.

And that idea is what is killing the game, plus who wants lv30 gear when you can get lv32 gear from a normal vender

And two or three months afterward, you can get that sweet new lvl 34 armor from a vendor! No end game experience required!
