Compared to this forum, a 7. Degree in economics, great job, car etc, but also a slight penchant for lacking common sense and making unnecessary high risk decisions with varying consequences.

Edited by Bigger Masshole: 8/12/2015 6:58:08 PMWhat kind of topics did you cover in Economics? Macroeconomic Theory? Econcentrics? Modular Economics (I think it's called)? Probably all of the above and more?

My specialist subjects are neo-liberal economics (Hayek / Thatcher/Reagan etc) / free markets and also Keynesian. I laugh as many people talk about how good Keynesian economic theory is, but no country anywhere practices it properly really. Apparently over here Labour under Blair/Brown were Keynes fans, except they still borrowed like a minimum of £30 Bn pounds even in the good years, not really Keynesian. And, in short, spending your way out of debt doesn't work in my book which is another favourite theme of Keynesian advocates. Anyway, that's enough of that on a Destiny forum. I wish my crucible play was as good as my economics.

I'm going into Finance, but I was wondering if a background with a bit of Economics helps a little.

I don't work in that field specifically, but my degree has helped me get a very good job, although I guess it's all context, but I would say it's good. Economics is just semi useful in most areas really. All companies have a finance department for example...

Because I'm torn with what else I should have a minor study, or maybe even double major in correspondence with Finance. At first it was Economics, but Computer Science, Math, Accounting all popped up recently.
