healthcare, food stamps, and social security are exactly the programs that need to go away. I interviewed a 20 something young lady yesterday for a position at my work. She is a single mom that has a passion to go to work. However she chooses not to because she makes more money staying at home doing nothing from the "free" government programs then she would if I offered her a job at 50k a year. She just goes to interviews and turns down the jobs so she can keep getting the "free" money.

My mother is a 45 year old 20 year department supervisor in retail veteran desperate for a new job where she won't be treated like shit constantly. I'd love to tell her of a kind of job she should apply/look for.

  • I'll have to tell her to try and look at those types of positions then, though I guess she'd probably need to educate herself more in Microsoft's software and Google's web services. Still, anything to get her out of retail...

I think he's lying. What kind of company offers an interview to woman who's been on government assistance and support for years and doesnt want a job? How is her résumé good enough to get that interview if she supposedly doesn't want to work and hasn't been working? Doesn't make sense.

totally not lying. she has a masters degree in finance and her series 6 exam. when I hire people I hire with the skill vs. will theory. I would rather hire a person with the will to work vs the skill to work. I can teach the skill but the will of the person is not in my control. to call me a liar because that's the only way you can validate your point is extremely weak and now you see it failed. note to self: her degree and license were all paid free by the government.

  • It's not a easily believable thing. Who in the -blam!- puts in the effort for a masters degree but doesn't want to use it? And even if it is true, its not representative of the entire population of America.

Sorry but your story is full of shit. There are plenty of people who abuse the system..you don't gotta go make up a story to tell us about it

  • Rampant assumptions and still no numbers to back them.

  • you lost all credibility in your other comment whereas you called people who use these programs pieces of shxt while trying to defend said programs throughout our conversation. Great Bate Mate I fell for it.

  • I already addressed this. People who abuse it are pieces of shit. People who use it as intended are fine.

  • There should be a way to report people who abuse the system, but it has to be something that itself can't be easily abused. Proper oversight is what's needed to limit abuse, not just complete removal.

  • I spent 20 years in the government sector. let me tell you how it works financial. in 1 fiscal year said department gets a budget of for example 100k for the year. they have to spend ALL that money in that year and no one really cares what they spend it on because if they don't then the next fiscal year their budget will get cut. so the government needs and wants people to take advantage of the system that way they can justify the program. that is why it is hard to report people who abuse the system.

  • I'm aware of how budgeting works. I've worked for the government for many years. But you're on a different topic now.

  • haha another credibility issue on your part. "I've worked for the government for many years" 8 years to you is considered many assuming you joined when you were 18? like I said. Grate Bate Mate. you won because I fell for it. you have now been muted for wasting my time.

  • I didn't join when I was 18. I've worked many different jobs. Some government some not. And muting me is a way of saying you have no better alternative to reply. So go ahead, hide.

  • the topic is related. the free government programs cost money. tax payers have to front it. given the choice of working or government assistance the vast majority of people would take government assistance which will bankrupt the system doing more harm then good.

  • any logical person would take government assistance. citation not needed. go ask 10 of your friends if they had a choice to stay home and get everything paid for by the government or go to work everyday which would they rather. I bet you the majority would say give me the free government assistance.

you assume too much and perhaps now we have found the anomaly. it's also amusing how you defend these programs while calling the people that use them pieces of shxt. your ridiculous.

  • she is not an anomaly. anyone one of us would kill to be in her situation and have the government support us instead of us having to go to work and bust our but. to bad there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Actually she is an anomaly. The majority of people who use food stamps, etc, get on it and right back off asap. The people who stay on it are going to be more obvious die to the shear amount of time they use it. These are a problem, I agree, but you don't chop off your nose to spite your face. Cite me some sources with actual numbers that back up your point, otherwise you have none.
