Zombies don't need food to survive, just like they don't need to breathe. Zombies have no sense of actually hunger. The disease in their brain only craves flesh. Doesn't mean it needs it to survive

The Emerald Wasp is a Wasp in Africa that takes over it's victims Neural System and thus makes a zombie. I believe a zombie is when a virus or something enters your body and controls your neural system and tucks you way in to the back of your mind, similar to an alter-ego kind of thing.
-
-Wasp- Its a wasp would this wasp take over a human? Not likely
-
28 Days Later.
-
Not really "zombies". They don't attack for food, they attack out of rage. It's a rage virus ... tested on monkeys ... and released by silly animal rights activists. PETA causes a zombie outbreak confirmed.

Those good for nothing hippies!
-
But don't you need a source of energy to move muscles in the first place? Thus rendering food vital to survival?
-
Not when your dead.

Edited by Discreet Dinner: 8/11/2015 7:48:09 PMSure you can't when you're dead, but what about when you're undead. Zombies need to move because they crave flesh right? Well lots of ATP is gonna be needed for muscle contraction through the breaking of phosphate bonds. But you can't get the ATP from glucose if you don't eat. So therefore you need food to even move in the first place. Edit: Let alone survive
-
How do you know zombies need that, have you seen one.
-
Holy shit you're one dense mother-blam!-er that hasn't even passed 9th grade Biology. Good day to you.
*Tips fedora*
-
That's nice. *struts away like a cool kid*.
Yay I'm a cool kid!
If you are dead there is no movement no consumption no organ or brain function. Therefore to be dead you cannot be a zombie. Entropy is at work here the human body is a closed system and without control a greater degree of chaos or unbalance happens. Cell death organ failure/non function. No being alive or half dead can function without burning calories and needing nutrients to replace the lost calories. Also a zombie couldn't make a growl noise without expelling oxygen from the lungs showing partial organ function must remain therefore nutrient intake must also take place. Also to lift your arm move your legs requires an electrical signal which if your brain doesn't work then you don't work without blood delivering oxygen your brain doesn't work= no zombies. Brain stem= translator of the brains electrical signals to the body you can't just turn on the brain stem and have the rest work.

If you are talking about a virus that basically kills you and reanimated you then a zombie would be a very low threat with no blood pumping through the limbs rig amortise would lock the limbs and body up forcing movement would break your arms and leg and snap your neck if try to move the neck as the muscles are what lock up. If you use a naturally occurring zombifying virus like the coydecyps (spelled wrong) virus then the jump from affecting insects to humans is an enormous leap but if it happens then the body would again lock up after a brief period of being controlled by the virus to a populated area the virus causes the body to lock up and generate spores to infect more ppl something the CDC or other virus disease centre can deal with. Either way the virus would die out long before it destroyed a nation let alone becoming an extinction level event.

Rigor mortis* Don't know if that was your fault and just autocorrect
-
But if both I couldn't remember how to spell it and what came out is what the auto correct gave me lol
-
Excellent explanation! Hopefully that Death guy reads this and understands it lol
-
I barely understand it I kinda forgot punctuation and a clear description. But screw it I'm tired lol.
-
Yep. But these thickos don't understand.
-
Look at the Mr. T picture!!!
-
Then the infection would die out in days, and would pose almost no threat to us as a species

Zombies do not need to breathe. They do not need to food to survive. They can survive for years, not eating anything. Try some research maybe?
-
Oh my god. Your obviously mentally challenged, for stating that they don't need to breathe is like saying normal humans don't need to drink water. Zombies were normal people they still have the same body parts and with how the human body is built it needs oxygen to supply the cells that drive our muscles and everything inside our body. Simple fact is they would need to breathe, eat and drink. Otherwise they would die within days due to dehydration.
-
They don't need to... we aren't talking about a normal human anatomy. Accept that there are things that are possible without explanation. These are people that are just... dead. As explained, in most instances the virus gets the brain operating at its minimal level, nothing more is used by the virus. Perhaps this so called virus holds some sort of genetic key, allowing for it to directly control muscles without them actually being useful... perhaps the virus generates some knock off brand of adenosine triphosphate in order to keep the body slightly energized, so they can shuffle around and bite shit. Feel me? This is literally all speculation, with zombies there is little room for fact seeing as they are decomposed corpses (often with no internal organs at all lol) walking around looking for food. They do not fit in the food chain, they just chewchewchewchewchew.
-
Would this man made or natural virus even be that intelligent or even have the capacity to do so?
-
1 if zombies r dead as u say, no blood flow thus rigor mortis and useless zombie. 2 genetic key? The fuk is a genetic key? Brain cells cannot live without sufficient oxygen so no communication with muscles whatsoever. 3 if cells r dead, then virus is dead, virus need living cell to multiply. 4 virus' aren't alive so cannot produce ATP. Also, cells need other things besides energy to live
