Look at a strange coin on a character, it says Currency under it.

Almost everything is a material.

Glimmer and marks aren't kept in the materials section of your inventory, strange coins are.

Correct however marks aren't in the Currency section either.

Destiny keeps them under the materials section of your inventory, that's where I'm going to put them (when I write that part of the guide). This isn't a matter of semantics, this is a matter of organization. If it makes you feel better I'll change the title.
