All games decrease in price as time goes one. Halo 4 is no longer 60 dollars. In addition, once TTK drops those previous expansions are going to be worthless anyway as the weapons and gear they drop will be outdated and unascendable.
This is just the gaming market, it's nothing new. I don't understand these complaints.

I'm pretty sure what he means is that new players coming to Destiny with The Taken King release will have a chance to not only get the original Destiny, The Dark Below, and House of Wolves, but also all that extra stuff like the 3 exotic class items that grant exp bonuses, 3 new emotes, 3 shaders, and extra memorabilia. Plus they have the added benfit of starting the game with 3 empty vaults. For year one players who most likely bought the expansion pass however, we just get an emblem, shader, and Sparrow, none of which gives an added in-bonus like those exotic class items. Not only that, but we're pretty much being forced to empty our vaults of our legendaries and start over. It doesn't feel like much of a reward at all after sinking about $100 into the game already and huge amounts of our time spent grinding for weapons that'll now be obsolete. I also don't want to pay another $80 just to get 3 class items that give XP bonuses (which I think is what Bungie actually wants year one players to do).

Class items, emotes, and shaders are going to be purchaseable seperately. Yes they are expensive and most people won't be buying them, but that option is there. The fact that they are not worth it to you should be enough. The fact that you don't get the pack that includes it doesn't matter, they aren't worth it. I am not happy that old gear is obsolete (I have only had my adept trials weapons for 3 months or less), but that makes that part of the deal the new players are getting worthless. Nobody is going to be running VOG, CE, or PoE anymore. These new players are never going to experience that content the way we did. It was fun while it lasted (for the most part.) This is not worth getting bent out of shape over.
